Some observations from the morning skate at Honda Center, prior to the home opener tonight vs. Vancouver at Honda Center:

Peter Holland is expected to make his season debut tonight against the Vancouver Canucks. He scored his first career NHL goal against the Canucks on Nov. 11, 2011 at Honda Center.

With Ryan Getzlaf not on the ice for today’s skate, rookie Rickard Rakell filled in at center between Corey Perry and Kyle Palmieri. Rakell, however, is expected to be a healthy scratch tonight.

And as expected, Jonas Hiller was the first to leave the ice – an indication that he’ll be the starting goaltender for tonight’s game.

Defenseman Sami Vatanen was reassigned to Norfolk (AHL) earlier this morning.

HOLLAND’S TIME
Peter Holland
is expected to make his season debut tonight against the Vancouver Canucks. Holland centered the Ducks’ fourth line consisting of Devante Smith-Pelly and Matt Beleskey this morning.

In fact, Holland scored his first career NHL goal against the Vancouver Canucks on Nov. 11, 2011 at Honda Center.

“I’m excited, but there is a little bit of nervousness.” – Holland

“We’d love to see what his compete level is. I’d like to see a solid game from him. And if someone in the top-three centers goes out, he’s a guy that can easily replace them with his offensive ability.” – Bruce Boudreau

Rickard Rakell, who was slotted as the fourth-line center for the first two games of the season, is expected to be scratched from tonight’s lineup.

‘WE CAN’T BE SATISFIED’
Even after starting the season 2-0, Teemu Selanne made it clear that this isn’t a time for admiration.

“The biggest thing in this room right now is that we can’t be satisfied about this. It’s just two games and it’s a good bonus, but we just have to forget those and keep pushing forward because it’s going to be a tough schedule and making the playoffs is going to be tough. You can’t be satisfied about this.” – Selanne

More Selanne: “We can do better. Obviously, the good thing in Calgary is that we didn’t play that well but we still found a way to win the game. And that’s what makes some teams better than others because everybody can beat everybody when they’re playing their best. But getting that worst game and getting that best game’s gap as close as possible, that’s how you’re going to have success.”

LINDHOLM UPDATE
The rookie defenseman was on the ice for the third consecutive day and was paired with Jordan Hendry this morning.

“He’s progressing. He’s been [off the ice] for a while since the beginning of the World Juniors. It’s going to take him a while. Plus, we want to make sure he’s right before he starts playing. He’s too good of a player, too good of a young prospect for us to sit there and hurry up just because we need him. We’re going to make sure this thing goes the right way.” – Boudreau
