Bruce Boudreau wouldn’t reveal tonight’s starting goaltender but Viktor Fasth was the first to get off the ice during the morning skate at Pepsi Center. If Fasth gets the nod tonight, it will be his fourth start in Anaheim’s last six games.

The 30-year-old netminder became the first goaltender in Ducks history to win his first three career NHL contests, including Monday’s win over the Sharks. In addition, Fasth is just the third goaltender in club history to win his first three decisions as a Duck (also Ray Emery in 2010-11, 6 consecutive wins; Curtis McElhinney in 2009-10, 4 consecutive wins).

Entering tonight’s game, Fasth is 3-0-0 with a 1.30 goals-against average and .946 save percentage.

HEAD TO HEAD
Tonight marks the first of three games vs. Colorado this season. Anaheim went 1-2-1 vs. Colorado last season (0-1-1 at Pepsi Center) and has compiled a 16-4-1 record when facing the Avs dating to Feb. 25, 2007 (7-2-1 at Pepsi Center).

Teemu Selanne leads the Ducks in career scoring vs. Colorado, picking up 73 points (34 goals, 39 assists) in 64 games.

THE AVALANCHE
Avalanche head coach Joe Sacco confirmed Semyon Varlamov as Colorado’s starting goaltender for tonight’s game.

The 24-year-old netminder enters the game with a 3-5-0 record, 2.50 GAA and .915 SV%. In his career, Varlamov is 2-0-1 (in four appearances) with a 2.33 GAA and .921 SV% when facing the Ducks.

Up front, the Avs are without the services of Gabe Landeskog (head/leg; no timetable for return) and David Jones (knee; day-to-day). Additionally, they’ve lost Steve Downie (knee) for the season and Ryan O’Reilly (RFA) has yet to sign a contract extension.

On the backend, Colorado is without defenseman Ryan Wilson who injured his ankle in the Avs’ Feb. 2 game against Edmonton. Wilson is out indefinitely.

In need of depth upfront, the Avs claimed Aaron Palushaj off waivers yesterday. Palushaj earned five points (1 goal, 4 assists) in 38 games with the Montreal Canadiens last season.

NOTE: David Jones is due back in the lineup for tonight’s game.
