The newest member of the team is set to make his Ducks debut tonight: Ben Lovejoy.

Acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound defenseman will be "thrown right into the fire,” according to head coach Bruce Boudreau.

“You think Anaheim, you think the high-end skill guys up front and the amount of talent they have on the ice. It’s pretty special and I’m so excited to be a Duck right now,” Lovejoy told us in a phone call yesterday. “I had a great six years with Pittsburgh, but I’m looking forward to a fresh start, and this is a pretty good place to be.”

Lovejoy, whose nickname is “Rev” in reference to The Simpsons character Reverend Lovejoy, will wear No. 6 for the Ducks.

FOWLER OUT
Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler has been placed on Injured Reserve with an upper body injury. Fowler's placement on IR is retroactive to last Saturday, Feb. 2, and by rule he is not available to play for seven days.

Fowler left Saturday night's 7-4 victory over the Kings early in the second period when he was run into the boards by LA forward Jarret Stoll. There was no penalty on the play and no supplemental discipline on Stoll.

The 21-year-old Fowler has a point and a plus-two rating in six games this season. He has not played since leaving the game vs. LA.

HEAD TO HEAD
Tonight marks the first of five games against the Stars this season, and the first of three in Dallas (also Mar. 14 and Apr. 1). Anaheim will host Dallas on Apr. 3 and 5.

All-time, the Ducks are 35-56-11 against the Stars (1-5-0 in 2011-12).

Teemu Selanne paces all Ducks skaters, having earned 83 points (38g/45a) in 93 career contests vs. Dallas.

AGELESS WONDERS
Teemu Selanne
(42 years, 7 months) and Jaromir Jagr (40 years, 11 months) have played over 2,700 NHL games, scored over 1,300 goals and earned more than 3,000 points collectively.

Jagr leads all active NHL goal leaders in goals and ranks tied for 10th all-time with 668 … Selanne ranks second among active goal scorers (12th all-time) with 666.

FINN-TASTIC
Ducks forwards Saku Koivu and Selanne rank first and second, respectively, among team leaders in points.

Koivu's 11 points (3g/8a) through nine games this year is his best start in over 15 years, when he had 13 points (6g/7a) to start the 1997-98 season with Montreal. Additionally, his +8 rating on the season ranks tied for fifth in the NHL.

Selanne's 10 points (3g/7a) through Anaheim's first nine games is his best start to a season since 1999-00 when he scored 11 points (4g/7a) through nine games with the Ducks.

THE STARS
The Stars enter tonight’s game having won three of their last four games and currently rank ninth in the Western Conference with a record of 5-5-1 (11 points).

Jamie Benn has collected five points (3g/2a) in his last two games after signing a five-year contract on Jan. 24. The 23-year-old has appeared in six games this season, earning six points (3g/3a).

Kari Lehtonen has appeared in nine games between the pipes, fashioning a 5-2-1 record, 2.46 goals-against average and .923 save percentage.
