Selanne's Four-Point Night Makes History ... Again

Teemu Selanne recorded 1-3=4 points Saturday night at St. Louis, his second four-point game of the season (also 2-2=4 points Jan. 19 @ Vancouver). In NHL history, there have now been four instances of a player 42 years old (or older) having four or more points in a single game - with two of those being recorded by Selanne in a 22-day span.*

The other two occurrences: Gordie Howe (42 years, 326 days) with 1-3=4 points for Detroit vs. Buffalo on Feb. 20, 1971 and Tim Horton (42 years, 3 days) with four assists for Pittsburgh vs. Philadelphia on Jan. 15, 1972. Selanne's second four-point game of the year came at the age of 42 years, 222 days.

Selanne leads the Ducks (8-2-1 record) with 4-10=14 points with a +6 rating in 11 games. This marks his highest point total through the first 11 games of a season since he had 4-10=14 points in 11 games with the original Winnipeg Jets in 1995-96 at age 25.
