Ducks Recall Maroon, Smith-Pelly from Norfolk
The Ducks have recalled left wing Patrick Maroon and right wing Devante Smith-Pelly from the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Maroon, 24 (4/23/88), has appeared in nine games for Anaheim this season, scoring one goal (1-0=1) with seven penalty minutes (PIM). He collected his first career NHL goal on Feb. 16 at Nashville, beating Pekka Rinne for the game-tying goal in a 3-2 shootout win. Maroon has earned 17-19=36 points with 113 PIM in 48 AHL games this season. Since his reassignment to Norfolk on Mar. 5, he scored 4-2=6 points with a +2 in three contests, earning AHL Player of the Week honors earlier today. Maroon currently ranks second among team leaders in goals and points, and co-leads in assists. In addition, he has scored a team-leading eight power play goals on the season. Maroon was acquired from Philadelphia with David Laliberte in exchange for Danny Syvret and Rob Bordson on Nov. 21, 2010.

Smith-Pelly, 20 (6/14/92), has appeared in five contests with Anaheim this season, going scoreless while averaging 7:59 time-on-ice. Assigned to Norfolk on Feb. 5, he has appeared in 47 contests with the Admirals this season, scoring 7-13=20 points with 49 PIM. Selected in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Smith-Pelly made his NHL debut with Anaheim in 2011-12, collecting 7-6=13 points with 16 PIM in 49 contests. He appeared in his first contest with the Ducks at 19 years, three months and 23 days on Oct. 7 at Buffalo (Helsinki, Finland), becoming the third-youngest player to appear in an Anaheim uniform.
