Morning Report (April 5): Ducks Prepare for Stars
Ryan Getzlaf (lower body) will be a game-time decision tonight, but head coach Bruce Boudreau says "It's definitely not a serious thing."

Line combinations were shuffled during the morning skate as the Ducks prepare to conclude their three-game miniseries against the Dallas Stars at Honda Center.

Because Ryan Getzlaf wasn’t on the ice this morning, Saku Koivu took over top-line center duties with Corey Perry and Bobby Ryan as his wingers. Getzlaf suffered a minor lower body injury five minutes into the third period of a 5-2 victory over the Stars on Wednesday night. He left the ice briefly and scored Anaheim’s fourth goal midway through the period, after which he left the game for good as a precautionary move.

“It’s just a game-time decision,” said head coach Bruce Boudreau of Getzlaf’s status tonight. “He decided not to go out [for the morning skate]. He was working out in there, so we’ll see how it is. It’s definitely not a serious thing.

“If he doesn’t feel comfortable today, then he’ll probably play Sunday.”

Goaltender Jonas Hiller also missed the morning skate because of a cold, according to Boudreau. “We told him to stay away right now. He’ll probably be back for backing up tonight.”

Matthew Lombardi, acquired two days ago from Phoenix, skated with Teemu Selanne and Daniel Winnik.

MORE BOUDREAU
On Getzlaf: “Sometimes you need to listen to the player. You just tell him, ‘Do you feel comfortable playing today or do you feel more comfortable giving it one other day?’ Usually they give you the right decision if you ask the right way.”

If Getzlaf isn’t an option for tonight: “We’ve got Lombardi. He hasn’t played yet. And we have [Steckel] who didn’t play, and [Cogliano] can play the middle. We have the numbers to play.”

BELESKEY LIKELY TO BE IN LINEUP AFTER STITCHES
Matt Beleskey, who played in his 200th game Wednesday night, took a high stick to the face from Alex Chiasson 8 1/2 minutes into the third period and did not return. There was no penalty called on the play. “It’s another black eye for the season, I guess," Beleskey said. "It’s all good, just some stitches. I got lucky it didn’t hit my actual eyeball."

Beleskey was near the puck on the play and was surprised that no high-sticking penalty was called. "They miss things. The game happens quickly," he said. "I had no idea where his stick came from. What are you going to do? They make mistakes just like us."

Beleskey received five stitches and an eye wash after the injury, and said he was fine, though a little shaken at first when his vision was affected momentarily. "Anything around the face makes you a little nervous." he said. "After a minute or two, you're back to normal. I got the stitches and an eye wash, and that was it."

Beleskey doesn't wear a visor, but has been sporting one for the past two days while the injury heals. "I've worn a visor before, so it's not that big of a deal," he said. "I'll wear it till it heals probably, and I'll probably go from there."

He plans on being back in the lineup tonight. "I feel fine," he said. "I just look a little worse."
