Ducks Recall Bobkov from Norfolk
NOTE: Goaltender Jonas Hiller is out tonight due to illness. Igor Bobkov has been recalled (emergency conditions) from Norfolk and is expected to arrive shortly (release below). Goaltender Rob Laurie has signed a one-day professional tryout with the Ducks and is eligible to dress tonight.

A resident of Corona, CA, Laurie was a member of the Anaheim Bullfrogs of the Roller Hockey International League (inline hockey) from 1993-99. He was the starting goaltender for the Bullfrogs on July 2, 1993, when Anaheim beat the Utah RollerBees, 12-4, in the first-ever professional sporting event at Honda Center (then Anaheim Arena). The 1993 Bullfrogs went 13-0-1 in the regular season and won the championship (Murphy Cup), with Laurie being named playoff MVP. The team also won the title in 1997.

Laurie also played ice hockey at Western Michigan (CCHA) from 1988-92 and played professionally in the minors (including the AHL & ECHL) from 1992-2002.

The Ducks have recalled goaltender Igor Bobkov from the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

Bobkov, 22 (1/2/91), has appeared in 27 games with Norfolk this season, going 11-16-0 with a 3.10 goals-against average (GAA) and .905 save percentage (SV%). He recorded his first career AHL shutout on Oct. 28, making 38 saves in a 2-0 triumph over St. John’s. His second shutout this season took place on Feb. 15 in a 1-0 goaltending duel over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (32 saves). A native of Surgud, Russia, Bobkov had a three-game win streak earlier this season from Oct. 13-28, compiling a 2.21 GAA and a .938 SV% with one shutout in that stretch. He made a season-high 42 saves in his 2012-13 debut, a 4-3 win over Worcester.

Selected by Anaheim in the third round (76th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Bobkov has gone 15-17-1 with a 3.10 GAA and .907 SV% in 33 career AHL contests. The 6-5, 216-pound netminder won a gold medal with Team Russia at the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship in Buffalo, NY. He stopped all 20 shots he faced in relief en route to Russia’s 5-3 championship win over Canada on Jan. 5, 2011. For his efforts, Bobkov, who was making his second World Juniors appearance, was named Russia’s Player of the Game in the decisive win.
