Ducks Recall Smith-Pelly, Andersen, Maroon from Norfolk
The Ducks have recalled right wing Devante Smith-Pelly, goaltender Frederik Andersen and left wing Patrick Maroon from the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, the Ducks have reassigned goaltender Igor Bobkov to Norfolk.

Smith-Pelly, 20 (6/14/92), has appeared in five contests with Anaheim this season, going scoreless while averaging 7:59 time-on-ice. The 6-0, 225-pound winger played 65 contests with the Admirals this season, scoring 14-18=32 points with 65 penalty minutes (PIM). Selected in the second round (42nd overall) of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Smith-Pelly finished the AHL regular season ranked fourth among team leaders in scoring, third in goals, tied for fourth in power-play goals (5) and fifth in assists.

Andersen, 23 (10/2/89), appeared in 47 games for Norfolk this season, going 24-18-1 with a 2.19 goals-against average (GAA) and .929 save percentage (SV%). Selected in the third round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, the Herning, Denmark native ranked sixth among AHL goaltenders in GAA (third among rookies), second in SV% (first among rookies), tied for ninth in wins (second among rookies) and tied for 11th in shutouts (tied for third among rookies). Andersen, who began the season on Anaheim’s Opening Night roster and was reassigned to Norfolk on Jan. 20, also led the Admirals in wins, GAA, SV% and shutouts (4).

Maroon, 25 (4/23/88), has appeared in 11 games for Anaheim this season, scoring two goals (2-0=2) with 10 PIM. He collected his first career NHL goal on Feb. 16 at Nashville, beating Pekka Rinne for the game-tying goal in an eventual 3-2 shootout win. Acquired from Philadelphia with David Laliberte in exchange for Danny Syvret and Rob Bordson on Nov. 21, 2010, the 6-3, 229-pound winger scored 26-24=50 points with 139 PIM in 64 games with Norfolk this season. He led the club in scoring, goals and power-play goals (12), and ranked second in assists. Among AHL leaders, Maroon finished tied for 13th in goals.

Bobkov, 22 (1/2/91), appeared in 28 contests for the Admirals this season, going 11-17-0 with a 3.13 GAA and .903 SV%. Recalled twice to Anaheim on Apr. 5 and Apr. 19, Bobkov has yet to make his NHL debut. The 6-5, 216-pound netminder recorded his first career AHL shutout on Oct. 28 at St. John’s, making 38 saves in a 2-0 victory. Bobkov had a three-game win streak from Oct. 13-28, compiling a 2.21 GAA and a .938 SV% with one shutout in that stretch.
