Cogliano Nominated For The 2012-13 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy
The Anaheim chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association (PHWA) announced today that Andrew Cogliano has been selected as the Ducks’ nominee for the 2012-13 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The Masterton Trophy is presented annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. The winner will be selected at the end of the regular season by the full PHWA’s 30 chapters.

Cogliano, 25 (6/14/87), has scored 12-10=22 points with a +14 rating and four penalty minutes (PIM) in 46 contests. The Toronto, Ontario native has not missed a single contest in his six-year career, having appeared in 456 consecutive games since his 2007-08 NHL debut. The streak ranks third on the NHL’s active iron man list, behind just St. Louis’ Jay Bouwmeester (633) and Vancouver’s Henrik Sedin (627).

Cogliano’s current .48 points-per-game average is the second-highest of his career (.55 in 2007-08), while his .26 goals-per-game average is the highest of his career. Among team leaders, Cogliano’s 12 goals rank third, while his career-best +14 rating ranks tied for third with Ryan Getzlaf. In addition, his +15 mark on the road ranks fourth overall in the NHL. The 5-10, 180-pound forward scored his second career hat trick on Mar. 2 at Phoenix.

Originally selected by Edmonton in the first round (25th overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Cogliano has appeared in 456 career NHL games with Anaheim and Edmonton, scoring 82-112=194 points with 156 PIM. He was acquired by Anaheim in exchange for a second-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft on July 12, 2011. Cogliano is also a two-time gold-medal winner at the IIHF World Junior Championship, representing Team Canada at the 2006 World Juniors in Vancouver and the 2007 tournament in Sweden.
