Season Overview
Kyle Palmieri completed his third NHL season with the Ducks in 2012-13. Appearing in 42 of the team’s 48 regular season games, Palmieri scored 10 goals, 11 assists and 21 points with nine penalty minutes and a +2 rating. He ranked tied for second on Anaheim in April scoring, picking up eight points (4g/4a) in 12 contests, and finished the season with four points (1g/3a) in his last five games.

Palmieri Video Highlights

Palmieri was one of Anaheim’s leading scorers in its first-round matchup against the Detroit Red Wings. The 22-year-old ranked tied for third on the Ducks in postseason scoring, earning three goals, two assists and five points in seven games. His three goals ranked tied for first on the team, and his +5 rating was tops among Ducks players.

Highlight
Palmieri became the second-youngest player in Ducks history to record a hat trick, scoring three straight in the first and second periods to lead Anaheim to a resounding 5-1 victory over Nashville at Honda Center on February 27. It marked the sixth natural hat trick in club history (last: Andrew Cogliano on Jan. 31, 2012 at Phoenix). Palmieri recorded the 40th hat trick in club history and became the 15th different player to score three in a game.

By the Numbers
5, the number of game-winning goals he scored during the regular season, co-leading the team with Corey Perry.

Looking Forward
Palmieri’s offensive skills were on full display this season, especially during the Stanley Cup Playoffs where he was one of Anaheim’s top scoring threats. His ability to perform (and produce) on all four lines was a testament to his versatility and should prove valuable to the Ducks again next season.

Personal
Roomed with Cam Fowler on the road this season. In fact, the two have been close friends since their time with the USA Hockey National Team Development Program. Born in Smithtown, New York, Palmieri played one year at the University of Notre Dame in 2009-10, where he ranked tied for first in club rookie scoring and tied for 10th in CCHA rookie scoring. Off the ice, Palmieri lists Seinfeld as one of his favorite TV shows.

He Said It
On who has given him help and guidance at the NHL level: “Everybody on the team has been great. From the start, my first call up two years ago, all the guys have been great to me. They’ve helped me all along the way. My teammates and my coaches, I owe them a lot of thanks for them helping me out. I think guys like Bobby Ryan and Teemu Selanne have been two guys I’ve talked to a lot.”
