Season Overview
Ryan Getzlaf appeared in his eighth NHL season with Anaheim, scoring 15 goals, 34 assists and 49 points, with 41 penalty minutes and a +14 rating in 44 games. The Ducks captain finished the season tied for 10th in the NHL in scoring, tied for eighth in assists and tied for third in home scoring (9-21=30). Getzlaf led the Ducks in points and assists, co-led in goals, tied for second in power-play goals (4) and tied for third in plus/minus.

Getzlaf netted a career-high three shorthanded goals in the regular season, one shy of the single-season club record. His third SHG of the season came on April 13 in Los Angeles when he beat Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick to a loose puck just inside the blue line to tie the game, 1-1.

GETZLAF VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

Getzlaf achieved several milestones this season, including his 350th career assist on February 27 vs. Nashville, and his 500th career point on March 8 vs. Calgary.

In his sixth Stanley Cup Playoffs, Getzlaf co-led his squad in scoring with six points (3g/3a) in a seven-game series with Detroit. Getzlaf led all Ducks forwards in average ice time (21:27) and scored a shorthanded goal on a beautiful individual effort in Game 3 in Detroit.

Highlight
With the Ducks up 1-0 in the third period and in the midst of killing off Luca Sbisa’s interference penalty, Getzlaf pickpocketed Red Wings forward Damien Brunner as he tried to come out of the zone. After stripping the puck from Brunner, Getzlaf used his reach to avoid Howard’s pokecheck and tucked one into an open net, giving the Ducks a 2-0 lead in an eventual 4-0 win in Game 3. It was a highlight reel goal for Getzlaf, who rejoiced with his teammates in front of a stunned crowd inside Joe Louis Arena. http://

His shorthanded tally was chosen by the fans as the team’s best goal of the season, as part of the Ducks Fan Awards, and his rapid-fire fist pump was voted the Ducks' best goal celebration of the season.

By the Numbers
369, career assists for Getzlaf, moving him into a tie with Paul Kariya for second place on the franchise’s all-time assists list.

Looking Forward
Ducks fans have a lot to be excited about, with Getzlaf (and linemate Corey Perry) signing eight-year contract extensions in March. Still only 28 years of age, Getzlaf figures to continue being one of the league’s most dominating forwards.

Personal
Married his wife, Paige, in 2010, and the couple resides in Tustin Ranch with sons Ryder (b: 2/23/11) and Gavin (b: 12/19/12). The family spends part of the summer at their offseason residence in Kelowna, British Columbia. His brother, Chris, is a wide receiver for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in the Canadian Football League. Getzlaf loves doing anything athletic, including golfing, wake-boarding, beach volleyball and riding Sea-Doos in the summer. Says if he wasn’t a hockey player, he would have tried to go pro in another sport like baseball or football.

He Said It
I was really proud of the way our young guys showed up to play, and played in some big situations. That looks really good for our future. It’s one of the reasons why me and Pears [Corey Perry] felt we should sign here and stay.”
