Jakob Silfverberg
The Ducks have acquired right wing Jakob Silfverberg, left wing Stefan Noesen and a first-round selection in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft from Ottawa in exchange for left wing Bobby Ryan.

Silfverberg, 22 (10/13/90), appeared in 48 games as a rookie with Ottawa last season, scoring 10-9=19 points with a +9 rating. He added 2-2=4 points in 10 playoff games.

In 2011-12, Silfverberg had a historic season with Brynas of the Swedish Elite League, winning MVP for both the regular season and playoffs. In the regular season, he scored 24-30=54 points in 49 games, ranking second in the league in both goals and points. He then set a Swedish Elite League playoff record with 13 playoff goals (surpassing Daniel Alfredsson's 2004-05 record of 12) as Brynas won the league title.

A native of Gavle, Sweden, Silfverberg was a second round draft pick by Ottawa (39th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He represented Sweden on the international stage on five occasions, winning medals at the 2010 World Junior Championship (bronze) and the 2011 World Championship (silver).

Noesen, 20 (2/2/93), has earned 99-121=220 points over four junior hockey seasons with the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He picked up 25-28=53 points with a +7 rating and 53 PIM in 51 contests with the Whalers this past season. A 6-2, 205-pound winger from Plano, TX, Noesen added 7-12=19 points with a +15 rating in 15 postseason contests in 2012-13, ranking second on the club in points and plus/minus. He helped the Whalers to the OHL’s Eastern Conference Finals.

Selected by Ottawa in the first round (21st overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Noesen had a career year in 2011-12, notching 38-44=82 points with a +18 rating in 63 contests. He led the Whalers in points and goals, and co-led the club in assists. Noesen was selected as a member of Team USA’s 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship squad, but had to sit out of the tournament due to an OHL suspension.

Ryan, 26 (3/17/87), appeared in 46 games last season with Anaheim, scoring 11-19=30 points with a +3 rating. He was drafted by Anaheim in the first round (second overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. He has played in 378 NHL games (all with Anaheim), scoring 147-142=289 points.
