Ducks Sign Stortini and Yonkman to One-Year Contracts
The Ducks have signed right wing Zack Stortini and defenseman Nolan Yonkman to one-year contracts through the 2013-14 NHL season. Per club policy, financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Stortini, 27 (9/11/85), is a veteran of 257 career NHL contests with Edmonton (2006-11) and Nashville (2011-12), earning 14-27=41 points with 725 penalty minutes (PIM). The 6-4, 215-pound winger put up career highs in 2009-10 with the Oilers, notching 4-9=13 points in 77 contests. Stortini made his NHL debut with Edmonton on Jan. 20, 2007 vs. Calgary and scored his first career goal on Feb. 6, 2007 vs. Vancouver.

Selected by Edmonton in third round (94th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Stortini has also appeared in 293 career American Hockey League contests from 2004-13. The Elliot Lake, Ontario native ranked fourth among AHL players in PIM (241) last season while also scoring 2-4=6 points in 73 contests (Hamilton Bulldogs). Stortini won the 2007 Calder Cup championship with the Bulldogs in 2007, collecting 3-0=3 points and 56 PIM en route to the AHL title over the Hershey Bears.

Yonkman, 32 (4/1/81), has appeared in 74 career NHL games, collecting 1-8=9 points with a +8 rating and 140 penalty minutes (PIM). He made his NHL debut with Washington in 2001-02 and set career highs in points (7), assists (7) and games played (38) with the Capitals in 2005-06. A native of Punnichy, Saskatchewan, Yonkman has most recently played for Phoenix in 2010-11 and Florida in 2011-12 and 2012-13 (scoreless in seven games).

Selected by Washington in the second round (37th overall) of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, Yonkman has played 12 professional seasons in the American Hockey League (AHL) with Portland, Hershey, Milwaukee and San Antonio. In 601 career AHL games, the 6-6, 253-pound blueliner has earned 16-63=79 points with 1,015 PIM. He has also appeared in 41 career Calder Cup Playoff games, scoring 0-5=5 points with 47 PIM.
