Ducks Notes: Oct. 18 vs. PHX

TONIGHT'S GAME: The Anaheim Ducks (5-1-0) play their second consecutive game against a Pacific Division rival - the Phoenix Coyotes - in the fourth of a five-game homestand tonight at Honda Center (7 p.m. PDT, FS West/AM 830)...the 2013-14 Ducks are the first team in franchise history to win five of their first six games to open a season, earning five consecutive victories following a season-opening loss in Colorado...at 5-1-0, the Ducks have matched the best start in club history by points, joining the 2006-07 squad (4-0-2, 10 points)...in addition, the club has won its opening three home games (3-0-0) for the first time in team history...Anaheim's best start through seven games was in 2006-07, when the club opened with a 5-0-2 record for 12 points...in the 20-year history, no Anaheim team has won six of its first seven games...the Ducks have outscored their opposition, 20-9, during their five straight victories, which is the third-longest win streak in the NHL this season and the longest active streak...Anaheim owns an all-time record of 673-618-207 (1,553 points, .518%) in 1,498 games since its NHL debut in 1993-94...over the last nine seasons, the Ducks have posted a regular-season record of 335-218-75 (.593%)...following tonight's game, the homestand will conclude with Anaheim's 1,500th regular-season game on Sunday, Oct. 20 vs. Dallas (5 p.m.).

DUCKS-COYOTES: Anaheim and Phoenix open a five-game season series tonight at Honda Center...three of the five games will be played in Anaheim, including future contests on Nov. 6 and Dec. 28...the Ducks will also travel to Glendale for two games on Nov. 23 and Jan. 11 this season...Anaheim is 57-32-16 all-time vs. Phoenix, including a 32-15-7 mark at Honda Center...the Ducks went 1-1-2 against the Coyotes last season, splitting the two games played in Anaheim...Teemu Selanne paces Anaheim skaters in career scoring vs. Phoenix, earning 37-40=77 points in 81 games...Ryan Getzlaf led the way in 2012-13, notching 2-5=7 points in all four games.

4-FOR-4: Jakob Silfverberg scored four goals in his first four games with the Ducks, becoming the third player in club history to accomplish the feat...Silfverberg joins an exclusive list that includes only Teemu Selanne, who scored four goals (4-2=6) from Feb. 10-15, 1996, and Daniel Winnik, who scored five (5-1=6) from Jan. 19-26, 2013...including his second career multi-goal game (2-0=2) on Oct. 10 vs. the New York Rangers, Silfverberg enters tonight's contest with points in five of his first six games as a Duck (5-1=5)...currently tied for 14th among NHL leaders in goal scoring, he also leads Anaheim in goals and co-leads in points.

PLUS EFFORT: Francois Beauchemin has recorded a +11 rating over his last five games...his +8 rating overall is tied for fourth among NHL leaders.

ONE FINAL YEAR: Teemu Selanne began his final NHL season in 2013-14 season as the league's oldest active player and the oldest to ever compete in a Ducks uniform at 43 years and 92 days...Selanne ranks 11th among all-time leaders in goals (7 behind Jagr), 40th in all-time assists (3 behind Federko), 15th in all-time scoring (33 behind Mikita), third in all-time PPG (14 behind Brett Hull) and sixth in all-time GWG (1 behind Brendan Shanahan)...he is in the midst of his 22nd NHL season and 15th in an Anaheim uniform...Selanne is the franchise's all-time leader in scoring (965), goals (449), assists (516), games (907), plus/minus (+114), PPG (112), PPP (402), GWG (75), shots (2,864) and overtime goals (6).

BEHIND THE BENCH: Among all active NHL coaches, Ducks Head Coach Bruce Boudreau ranks second in win (points) percentage (.658), compiling a 263-124-54 record in 441 career games...he is second only to Pittsburgh’s Dan Bylsma, who has compiled a .673 win percentage over his 326 games with the Penguins (207-94-25)…Boudreau, along with San Jose coach Todd McLellan are the two fastest coaches in modern-day NHL history to reach 200 wins…Boudreau reached the 200-win mark Nov. 22, 2011 (w/Washington) in 326 games (200- 86-40), the fastest in modern day history...on Jan. 27, 2013, McLellan became the second-fastest coach in modern-day NHL history to win 200 games (now 226-108-49 in 383 career games) and owns a .654 win percentage, third among all active NHL coaches.

WHEN IT COUNTS: Since the start of the 2010-11 season, Corey Perry has scored 23 game-winning goals, second in the NHL behind only Tampa Bay’s Steven Stamkos (24).

LEADING THE WAY: Anaheim captain Ryan Getzlaf is one of four NHL players to average a point-per-game in five of the last six seasons, joining Washington's Alex Ovechkin and Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin...with 15-34=49 points in 44 games last season, Getzlaf finished tied for 10th in the NHL in scoring, tied for eighth in assists and tied for third in road scoring (9-21=30)...among team leaders, he led in scoring and assists, co-led in goals, tied for second in PPG (4) and tied for third in plus/minus (+14).

IRONMAN: Andrew Cogliano began the 2013-14 NHL season ranked third on the NHL’s active Ironman list…he has not missed a game since his NHL debut with Edmonton on Oct. 4, 2007, having appeared in 464 consecutive games with the Oilers and Ducks…the only players in the NHL who have played more games consecutively at this current time are STL’s Jay Bouwmeester at 642 and VAN’s Henrik Sedin at 637.
