The Ducks will host Hockey Fights Cancer Night presented by Loma Linda University Health this Sunday, Oct. 20 at Honda Center (vs. Dallas, 5 p.m.). Joining a month-long, league-wide initiative, the Ducks celebrate Hockey Fights Cancer (HFC) Night to raise awareness for the Loma Linda University Cancer Center (LLUCC). The interactive evening will encourage fan participation in a variety of ways including the creation of “Inspiration Cards,” recognizing loved ones affected by cancer.

With lavender serving as the official HFC color (representing awareness for all types of cancers), Ducks players will have lavender HFC decals affixed to their helmets throughout the month. For Sunday’s contest, the first 3,000 fans to enter Honda Center will receive lavender HFC ribbons to wear for the game. In addition, Ducks coaches, broadcasters and executives will sport lavender HFC ties in recognition of the evening. Ducks fans will have the opportunity to create “Inspiration Cards” prior to the game. The cards will be available at “The Hockey Spot” in the parking lot on the North side of the building, main entrances on the North and South sides of the building, as well as the Community Relations table at Section 212 on the plaza concourse. Fans will be invited to display their “Inspiration Cards” during a Moment of Recognition taking place during the second period of Sunday’s contest.

Fans can also contribute to HFC Night through the purchase of game-used, player-autographed hockey sticks wrapped in lavender tape. The online auction is being held at AnaheimDucks.com/auction. Throughout the month of October, guests can also purchase bottles of Zonin sparkling rosé wine at The Grand Terrace or Jack Daniel’s Old No. 7 Club with Zonin U.S.A. donating a portion of sales to the American Cancer Society.

The Ducks will also recognize three local cancer survivors in a pre-game ceremony. Annie Sellas, Cathy Stockton and Nancy Varner will serve as the game’s “Community Heroes” and participate in a ceremonial puck drop. The three women banded together in 2007 to form the Inland Women Fighting Cancer organization, a group that has raised $1.7 million for the Loma Linda University Cancer Center. About Hockey Fights Cancer

Hockey Fights Cancer is an initiative founded in December 1998 by the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players' Association to raise money and awareness for hockey's most important fight. To date, through the NHL's US and Canadian charitable foundations, more than $12.8 million has been raised under the Hockey Fights Cancer initiative to support national and local cancer research institutions, children's hospitals, player charities and local cancer organizations. The Hockey Fights Cancer program is also a component of the NHL's "Biggest Assist Happens Off the Ice" campaign - the League's long-standing tradition of addressing important social issues in North America and around the world.
