Ducks Sign Goaltender Andersen to Two-Year Contract Extension
The Ducks have signed goaltender Frederik Andersen to a two-year contract extension through the 2015-16 season.
The Ducks have signed goaltender Frederik Andersen to a two-year contract extension through the 2015-16 season. Per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Andersen, 24 (10/2/89), made his NHL debut on Oct. 20 vs. Dallas, coming on in relief of Jonas Hiller in the second period. In 40 minutes, Andersen stopped all 24 shots he faced en route to a 6-3 Ducks comeback victory. The 6-4, 230-pound netminder was recalled by Anaheim on Oct. 18 after beginning the season with a 2-0-0 record, one shutout, a .096 goals-against average (GAA) and .971 save percentage (SV%) in two games with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Selected by Anaheim in the third round (87th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Andersen originally signed a two-year entry-level contract on July 11, 2012. He has gone 26-18-1 in 49 career AHL contests with five shutouts, a 2.14 GAA and .931 SV%. The Herning, Denmark native won six consecutive games from Jan. 25-Mar. 1 for Norfolk last season, recording a 1.31 GAA and .954 SV% during that span. Andersen ranked sixth in the AHL in GAA (third among rookies) and second in SV% (led all rookies) in 2012-13 with a 24-18-1 record, 2.19 GAA and .929 SV%.

Prior to his North American debut, Andersen posted a 24-14 record with eight shutouts, a 1.67 GAA and .941 SV% in 39 games for Frolunda of the Swedish Elite League in 2011-12. His eight shutouts established a franchise record, surpassing Henrik Lundqvist’s previous mark of seven (2003-04). Andersen was also a finalist for the Swedish Elite League’s Rookie of the Year award in 2011-12. In international play, he has represented his native Denmark in four IIHF World Championships from 2009-12 and at the 2008 IIHF World Junior Championship in the Czech Republic.
