Selanne to Undergo Oral Surgery
"You hate to see it," said head coach Bruce Boudreau. "I just hate to see the whole teeth thing. Drives me nuts. It was a reckless use of the stick but what are you going to do." Flyers defenseman Luke Schenn was not penalized on the play.
"Hockey happens so fast," Boudreau said. "It was definitely not meant to hit him. But, he could've had a little more control of his stick, which we're trying to get [into] the game. The players are in control of their stick. It's been called on us a couple times this year."
Selanne, 43 (7/3/70), has seven points (3g/4a) in 10 games this season. Now in his 22nd and final season in the NHL (and 15th with the Ducks), Selanne ranks 11th among all-time leaders in goals (five behind Jaromir Jagr), 40th in all-time assists (two behind Bernie Federko), 15th in all-time scoring (30 behind Stan Mikita), third in all-time PPG (13 behind Brett Hull) and sixth in all-time GWG (one behind Brendan Shanahan).
Selanne began the season as the league's oldest active player and the older to ever to compete in a Ducks uniform at 43 years and 92 days. Selanne needs just three appearances to reach 1,400 career NHL games.
