Ducks Recall Rakell, Sbisa from Norfolk; Reassign Holland
The Ducks have also recalled defenseman Luca Sbisa from his Long-Term Injury Conditioning Loan with Norfolk. Sbisa remains on Long-Term Injured Reserve.
Rakell, 20 (5/5/93), scored 4-2=6 points with six penalty minutes (PIM) in 11 games for Norfolk this season. At the time of his recall, he co-led the Admirals in scoring, goals and appearances, and ranked second in power-play goals (3). The 6-1, 192-pound center was most recently reassigned to Norfolk on Oct. 31.
Selected in the first round (30th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Rakell made his NHL debut on Jan. 19, 2013 at Vancouver as the sixth youngest player to appear in a game for the Ducks at 19 years, eight months and 14 days. A native of Sundbyberg, Sweden, Rakell played four games with Anaheim in 2012-13, going scoreless while averaging 8:57 time-on-ice (TOI). Rakell spent the rest of 2012-13 with Plymouth of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), collecting 21-23=44 points with a +19 rating and 12 PIM in 40 games.
Holland, 22 (1/14/91), appeared in four contests with Anaheim this season, scoring one goal (1-0=1) with two PIM. He made his season debut on Oct. 27 at Columbus (recalled from Norfolk the same day), scoring Anaheim’s second goal in the 4-3 win. The Toronto, Ontario native has also played in five contests for the Admirals this season, collecting 3-1=4 points with a +1 rating.
The 6-2, 194-pound center has appeared in 29 career NHL games, registering 5-2=7 points with a +3 rating and eight PIM. Holland made his NHL debut on Nov. 5, 2011 at Detroit and scored his first career goal on Nov. 11, 2011 vs. Vancouver (game-winning goal). Selected by Anaheim in the first round (15th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Holland has collected 48-61=109 points with 145 PIM in 124 career AHL games.
