The Ducks announced today that the club will honor the United States Armed Forces by hosting Military Appreciation Night presented by GovX this Sunday evening (Nov. 10) at Honda Center when the Ducks face Vancouver (5 p.m.). This special game night will pay tribute to local military and their family members as well as raise awareness for local military nonprofit organizations, Defending the Blue Line, Veterans First and Operation Homefront.

Anaheim Ducks players will be wearing camouflage jerseys during the pre-game warm-up for Military Appreciation Night. Following the game, the jerseys will be autographed and made available in an online auction at AnaheimDucks.com/auction. In a pre-game ceremony, the Ducks will honor Sgt. 1st Class Wade Scott as Community Hero. Scott served 11 years as military police in the California Army National Guard and has deployed on tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his service in battle.

As part of Military Appreciation Night events, non-perishable food items will be collected for Veterans First, an Orange County-based organization that provides services exclusively to our region’s homeless and at-risk veterans. Fans are encouraged to bring canned and non-perishable food items to the Ducks in the Community Relations booth located in the Hockey Spot (South side of the building in front of The Grand Terrace) starting at 3 p.m.

Fans in attendance at the Nov. 6 and 8 games can donate Wild Wingers Kids Club kits to military families, which will be available for purchase for $25, at Section 214 and online at AnaheimDucks.com/military. Military members in attendance at Military Appreciation Night on Nov. 10 can present a military identification badge at Section 214 and receive a complimentary Kids Club Kit.

The Ducks are proud to offer discounted tickets to active-duty, reserved, veteran and retired service members and their families. GovX discounted tickets can be purchased by clicking this link.

Throughout the month of November, San Manual Premium Level ticket holders and Grand Terrace season pass holders will also contribute to the efforts. With every purchase of 2011 Homefront Red wine on the San Manuel Premium Level, a donation will be made to support Operation Homefront.

Tickets for Military Appreciation Night are still available and can be purchased through AnaheimDucks.com, by phone with Ticketmaster at (714) 703-2545 or in person at the Honda Center Box Office. Through the club’s “No Surprise Fees” policy, fans incur no additional fees when purchasing tickets direct from the Anaheim Ducks via AnaheimDucks.com, Ticketmaster or at the Honda Center Box Office. In addition, all tickets purchased direct through the Anaheim Ducks receive free TicketFast delivery (ability to print tickets at home). PARTICIPATING NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS:

Defending the Blue Line
Defending The Blue Line is ensuring that children of military members are afforded every opportunity to participate in the game of hockey. We accomplish this by providing free equipment for military kids, hockey camps, special events, and financial assistance for registration fees and other costs associated with hockey.

Operation Homefront
Operation Homefront provides emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. Through generous, widespread public support and a collaborative team of exceptional staff and volunteers, we aspire to become the provider of choice for emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. Where there is a need we do not provide, we will partner with others for the benefit of our military families.

Veterans First
For over forty years, our goal at Veterans First has been to honor every brave man or woman who has served this country by helping to restore dignity to those whose sacrifices defending the freedoms we cherish have left them in need. Every person who raises their hand and takes a pledge to defend our country is a hero. Until there are no American heroes sleeping in the streets, in cars or in alleyways, we will be there for them just as they were there for all of us.
