Ducks Recall Holland from Norfolk (AHL); Reassign Andersen, Vatanen

In addition to today's roster moves, the Ducks have recalled goaltender Viktor Fasth from his Long-Term Injury Conditioning Loan with Norfolk (AHL)

Ducks Recall Holland from Norfolk (AHL); Reassign Andersen, Vatanen
The Ducks have recalled center Peter Holland from the Norfolk Admirals, Anaheim’s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, the Ducks have reassigned goaltender Frederik Andersen and defenseman Sami Vatanen to Norfolk.

The Ducks have also recalled goaltender Viktor Fasth from his Long-Term Injury Conditioning Loan with Norfolk (AHL).

Holland, 22 (1/14/91), has appeared in four contests with Anaheim this season, scoring one goal (1-0=1) with two penalty minutes (PIM). He made his season debut on Oct. 27 at Columbus, scoring Anaheim’s second goal in the 4-3 win. Most recently assigned to Norfolk on Nov. 3, the Toronto, Ontario native played in nine contests for the Admirals this season, collecting 4-2=6 points with a +1 rating and 22 PIM. Among team leaders, Holland ranked tied for second in goals and third in points. The 6-2, 194-pound center has appeared in 29 career NHL games, registering 5-2=7 points with a +3 rating and eight PIM.

Andersen, 23 (10/2/89), appeared in seven contests with Anaheim, going 6-1-0 with a 1.66 goals-against average (GAA) and .952 save percentage (SV%). He won his first six games from Oct. 20-Nov. 10, marking the first time since December 1993 that a goaltender won his first six career contests (Toronto’s Damian Rhodes from Mar. 22, 1991-Dec. 2, 1993). At the time of his assignment, Andersen ranked fourth in the NHL in GAA and fifth in SV% (min. five appearances), while leading all rookies in most statistical categories. The 6-4, 230- pound netminder began the season with Norfolk, going 2-0-0 with a 0.96 GAA and .971 SV%, including a shutout on Oct. 11 vs. Binghamton. The Herning, Denmark native was recalled to Anaheim on Oct. 18.

Vatanen, 22 (6/16/91), appeared in 17 contests for Anaheim this season, earning 1-4=5 points with eight PIM and a +3 rating. He scored his first goal of the season (third career) on Nov. 2 at Buffalo as part of a 6-3 Ducks win. The 5-10, 183-pound defenseman ranked tied for third among team blueliners in points and fourth in shots (25). In 25 career NHL games, Vatanen has earned 3-4=7 points with eight PIM and a +6 rating. He made his NHL debut on Feb. 1, 2013 vs. Minnesota and scored his first career goal on Apr. 17, 2013 vs. Columbus (Bobrovsky). The Jyvaskyla, Finland, native was selected by Anaheim in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
