Postgame quotes following Anaheim's 5-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Mathieu Perreault
On tonight’s game

It was a tough one. Not a really good start for us. They got the lead and [we thought] This can’t be happening to us. Even though we had a couple guys who are injured, we need to battle harder for sure.

On what was learned from this game leading into the rematch eight days from now in Anaheim
We know they’re a fast team and come very hard on the forecheck. We will be prepared for that. We haven’t played them for a while and they came really hard at us.

Emerson Etem
On the Lightning

They were playing as if they didn’t have Steven Stamkos in the lineup. They got on the forecheck. But at the same time, when we brought the puck up, they were really far back. Their gap was a little bit behind the play. It made it difficult for us and we did everything we could to get the puck deep, but it just seemed like they were first to every loose puck tonight.

On how to prepare for tomorrow night’s game at Carolina
The positive is we started out the last road trip 0-and-2 and we finished off strong. That’s our goal, to get two big wins coming up. We’ve just got to get back to playing the game we know we can play. That’s playing simple, getting a lot of shots on net and getting the shots on net early. We’re going to get back to that.

On the team battling the flu
We’re doing everything we can to keep the guys who are healthy, healthy. And, making sure the guys who are coming down with the flu or sickness are getting back into the lineup. We’re doing everything in that aspect. Hopefully we’ll be 100-percent in the next couple of games.

On what was learned from this game leading into the rematch eight days from now in Anaheim
Make sure we’re hitting the red line and getting in deep. I don’t think we got after their D enough tonight. We’re going to have to win the battles along the boards. I thought they did a good job on that. Just come ready to play better next time.
