Ducks and Kings to Unveil 2014 NHL Stadium Series™ Los Angeles Legacy Initiative
The Ducks, NHL and Kings will unveil the legacy project on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at Graham Elementary School in Los Angeles at 1:30 p.m. PST. Graham Elementary, a member of the Ducks S.C.O.R.E. program, is one of the 50 schools in Southern California to benefit from the legacy. As part of Tuesday’s event, a street hockey clinic for 128 fourth graders will be led by Ducks defenseman and U.S. Olympian Cam Fowler, Ducks defenseman Hampus Lindholm and Kings players. In addition, Ducks Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer Tim Ryan will assist in the 1:30 p.m. unveiling, attended by 800 students from Graham Elementary. The day will also include a teamwork assembly conducted by Ducks TV play-by-play broadcaster John Ahlers at 9:00 am. All students in grades 4, 5 and 6 will attend the assembly. Both team mascots and Kings TV analyst Jim Fox will take part in the assembly.
Graham Elementary School is an invested participant in the Anaheim Ducks S.C.O.R.E. (Scholastic Curriculum of Recreation & Education) Program. Ducks S.C.O.R.E. offers a three-pronged approach to enrich the education of 28,00 students: an in-class education program that donates 18,000 sets of school supplies and includes an incentive-based reading program (Reading is the GOAL), a science & math program (First Flight Field Trip) as well as a street hockey physical education program. S.C.O.R.E. is the primary program of the Anaheim Ducks Foundation. The mission of the Anaheim Ducks Foundation is to facilitate and support programs that produce positive change for children and families throughout Southern California by providing educational opportunities, broadening access to the sport of hockey and addressing the health and wellness needs of our community.
About the 2014 NHL Stadium Series Los Angeles
Part of the previously-announced 2014 NHL Stadium Series™, a group of games planned for outdoor locations this season, the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks will face off at iconic Dodger Stadium at 6:30 p.m. PT / 9:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014.
The Los Angeles event will mark a series of firsts for the National Hockey League and its fans as the Jan. 25 game will be the first outdoor regular season NHL game played in the U.S. west of the Mississippi River, the southern-most outdoor NHL game in history, and the first-ever outdoor NHL game in California. In its 51-year history, the venerable Dodger Stadium has hosted eight World Series and close to 4,000 regular-season games, but never a hockey game – marking another first for this Stadium Series event.
