POSTGAME QUOTES

ANAHEIM DUCKS

Patrick Maroon
On what sparked the team’s offense

I think we knew what we did in the first period wasn’t good enough. After we got pucks deep in the second period, we were physical all over the ice. We worked their defense down low. We know they’ve played a lot of games these past few days, so we knew what we had to do.

On his game-winning goal
Tim Jackman
forechecked really hard and I came in second. Then, [Kings defenseman] Willie Mitchell turned it over, and Fisty [Mark Fistric] threw it on net. My first instinct was to wrap the puck, and fortunately it went in.

Ben Lovejoy
On winning in a variety of ways

We can play any style. We can play with speed teams because we have that speed and skill. And we can match up with the big, physical teams like LA. I don’t think we beat them at their own game. I think we imposed the kind of game we wanted in the second and third. We need to continue to do that if we want to beat good teams like that.

On the Kings
One game in January doesn’t mean we’re a better team than them. They played a great game tonight. We were one goal better than them, barely. We’re two very evenly matched teams, and we need to bring it on Saturday in order to be successful.

Head coach Bruce Boudreau
On tonight’s game

I know every time we play this team, it’s a man’s game. You better be prepared to hit, and be hit, because they’re so good. Even if we got outplayed in the first period, we can come back. Once we got our legs underneath us, I thought we played pretty good the last two periods.

On playing a grinding, physical game tonight
We had 48 hits tonight, which is a team record. You have to play that way against these guys. If we make the playoffs, that’s what we’re going to have do. We’re going to have to grind it out.

LOS ANGELES KINGS

Justin Williams
On the team's performance

Some good, some bad. We lost the special teams battle again, which is crucial. We got the lead which was important, but we weren’t able to get the next one with the power plays that we had. We didn’t get it done. Gave them two easy goals in front of the net. We scored one goal.

On Saturday's game at Dodger Stadium
We should have some fire in our belly and be upset. You have a home and a home with a team, especially a team in our division, and the top of the league right now, you better have some fire in your belly and we’ll have that.

Anze Kopitar
On tonight's game

We came up short. That’s something we have to learn from. We can’t just give up soft goals and easy goals.

On Saturday's game at Dodger Stadium
Two points are going to be on the line just like any other game. Yes, we are going to play outdoors. It is a different venue, a different atmosphere but at the end of the day we are going to try and get the two points.

Darryl Sutter
On tonight's game

It was a good hockey game. You go on the road and you win a period, lose a period, and tie a period. That’s a pretty good hockey game.

On Saturday's game at Dodger Stadium
Obviously we’re looking forward to it. Not many guys have played an outdoor game. The way the schedule is jammed in, in a lot of ways it’s just another road game. We get home, play, and leave again.
