On the strong first period
That was as well as we’ve played in the last little while. We were buzzing all over the place. Our defense was moving the puck up so quickly and everything was transitioning back the other way.
On the success the team has had this season
We’re just building now. Last game, we didn’t execute that well, but we played well. It was nice to see us rebound like that and come out in this first period. We just need to keep building and getting better along the way.
On the team’s strong first period
It’s all about having good starts and jumping on your opponent. We played our style of game. Quick puck movement and getting in on the forecheck and creating chances. It proves it works.
On the Hurricanes
We knew they played yesterday. They’re fighting for a playoff spot, and we knew if we got on them early, they might sit back.
On starting a new winning streak after the break
We’re playing four teams in a row that have beaten us this season. It’s a good thing to get going and getting on a streak. We didn’t feel like we played our best before the Olympic break, so to have two wins, is a good sign. Now we play three really good teams.
On the strong first period
The first line did most of it. They were really the catalyst for most of the night, especially at the beginning. When you get a couple goals early against a team like that, it puts them on their heels.
Head coach Bruce Boudreau
On the play of Andrew Cogliano
He’s a true professional. He plays the right way every time. He comes to the game focused and he prepares the right way. That’s why he’s having the success he’s having. He’ll continue to have success for as long as he wants because his attitude is perfect.
On the play of Frederik Andersen
He was fabulous tonight. He did what he had to do, and he kept the team in the game. He won the game for us.
Head coach Kirk Muller
On tonight's game
Tonight we made a couple mistakes and they capitalized. They’ve got some good players and they scored, but defensively we have been pretty solid.
On Andrej Sekera’s goal
It was a beautiful individual effort. I think that showed a group of guys that did not want to quit. Everyone saw that as nice as it was, it was pure effort and hard work, and he got a goal. That is the stuff that we have to build on. No one quitting, battling through this, put pieces together and get a little break, get one win and who knows? Then we can get on a nice little roll the other way.
