Ducks Host Capitals on Tuesday as Playoff Race Hits Home Stretch
The Pacific Division-leading Anaheim Ducks (45-16-7, 97 points) host the Washington Capitals Tuesday at Honda Center (7 p.m. PDT, PRIME TICKET\/AM 830)...the club then heads to San Jose for a Thursday division showdown with the Sharks, who are currently tied with Anaheim in points (Ducks have one game in hand).
-The Pacific Division-leading Anaheim Ducks (45-16-7, 97 points) host the Washington Capitals Tuesday at Honda Center (7 p.m. PDT, PRIME TICKET/AM 830)...the club then heads to San Jose for a Thursday division showdown with the Sharks, who are currently tied with Anaheim in points (Ducks have one game in hand).

-With points in seven of the last nine games (5-2-2, 12 pts.), Anaheim is riding its best start to a season through 68 games, improving upon its previous mark of 40-17-11 for 91 points in 2006-07...Anaheim also has the best home (24-6-4) and road (21-10-3) records, and scored the most goals (216) at this stage of the season in club history…the Ducks currently rank second in the NHL in goals scored - behind only Chicago - and tied for third in goals-per-game average (3.18) this season...the team has gone 17-8-2 in the last 27 games and 27-9-2 in the last 38, including a 14-6-2 mark at Honda Center and 12-3-0 road record.

-The Ducks were selected as The Hockey News’ No. 1 team in Future Watch 2014, which grades the prospects and player development of all 30 NHL teams...of the top 100 prospects named in Future Watch 2014, the Ducks have three in the top 30 and four overall...those Anaheim prospects include goaltender John Gibson at second overall, defenseman Sami Vatanen at 24th, center Rickard Rakell at 28th and defenseman Shea Theodore at 75th...Anaheim held the No. 2 spot in Future Watch 2013, and is the only NHL team to be ranked among the top three clubs in each of the last two Future Watches.

-The Ducks have gone 24-6-4 through 34 games at Honda Center, the best home start in club history...Anaheim was the fourth team in 40 NHL seasons (since 1973-74) to record points in each of its first 22-plus home games (20-0-2) from Oct. 13-Jan. 15, joining PHI (19-0-7, 1979-80), NYI (19-0-4, 1978-79) and SJ (20-0-2, 2008-09) in that category...the Ducks, who were the last NHL team to suffer a home loss in regulation this season (Jan. 21 vs. WPG), have gone 16-6-3 in their last 25 home games and earlier set a club record with eight straight home wins to open a season.

-Ryan Getzlaf has seven games with three-or-more points this season, trailing only PIT's Sidney Crosby (11 games) in that category...Getzlaf has 23-34=57 points in his last 48 games, including an official 14-game streak (6-11=17) from Nov. 15-Dec. 15, the longest in the NHL since Mar. 7-Apr. 7, 2012 (PIT's Dupuis,10-12=22 in 14 straight)...he ranks tied for second among league leaders in scoring, tied for 10th in goals, fourth in even-strength goals (25), tied for fifth in GWG, tied for seventh in assists and ranks second among all forwards in blocked shots (75).

-Corey Perry's 36 goals through 68 games are the most in his career (had 34 in 68 games in 2010-11)...Perry ranks third in the NHL in goals with 196 tallies since the start of 2008-09, spanning six seasons (Ovechkin, 253; Stamkos, 223)...since the start of 2010-11, Perry has scored 31 GWG to lead the NHL (five more than anyone else in the league; WSH's Ovechkin has 26)...he leads the NHL in GWG and even-strength goals (29), ranks second in goals and ninth in points…Perry, who scored his 250th career goal and became the third NHL player to 30 goals this season on Feb. 8 @ NSH, has 11-7=18 points in his last 20 games.

-Jonas Hiller has gone 18-6-2 in his last 25 games and ranks T-7th among NHL goaltenders in wins (27)…Hiller had a club-record 14 straight victories (14-0-0) from Dec. 6-Jan. 12 to match the second-longest streak all-time in an NHL single season with MIN’s Don Beaupre from Feb. 6-Mar. 19, 1986...meanwhile, Frederik Andersen has gone 7-2-0 with a 2.47 GAA and .924 SV% in his last 11 appearances (nine starts).
