POSTGAME QUOTES

Mathieu Perreault
On the keys to tonight’s victory

We were very good in the first period. We battled better in the third. We did a lot of good things. Their goalie played great for them. We stuck to it and were able to get it in.

On his career-best six-game point streak
I’m getting all the bounces my way. I’m just happy and going with it. I’m having fun.

On the importance of tonight’s win
It was a big game for us because we need these points. We have a couple of games in hand. We battled hard and found a way to win.

On the next stretch of games
Our schedule is probably one of the easiest to finish the season. We have to take advantage of all those games and hope for the best.

Andrew Cogliano

On tonight’s game

We had a good effort tonight. It was a tight game, but we expected that. I thought we really showed what kind of team we are. It was a big win for us on this road trip.

On the next stretch of games
We have to keep winning. San Jose has done a good job of staying ahead and winning games. It’s our turn now to keep responding and moving forward. Tonight was a good start for us.

Head coach Bruce Boudreau
On tonight’s victory

There was some sloppy play in front of our net, but we never gave up. We kept coming. I thought in the second period, even though we were outscored 2-0, we had some great chances. It would’ve been a different game if we put them in.

On scratching key players
I plan to sit one defenseman out every game here. Beauch [Francois Beauchemin] was just the first one. We’ve got nine games in 15 days starting tonight. Our older guys need a little bit of a rest sometimes.

On Perreault’s six-game point streak
I hope he continues it. He’s a big, vital part of our team when he’s the second-line center. We need his production. We get production from all four lines. The big guys weren’t going tonight, but we got a goal from the fourth line, third line and second line. That’s the way we need to play.
