Postgame Quotes: March 28 at EDM
Postgame quotes following Anaheim\'s 4-3 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers at Rexall Place on March 28, 2014.
POSTGAME QUOTES
Anaheim 3 vs. Edmonton 4 (OT)
March 28, 2014
Rexall Place
47-18-8, 102 Standings Points

Jakob Silfverberg
On Ben Scrivens

He had a great game, but I think we have to bear down more and put those chances in. I had a great chance. We have to make sure that puck goes in the net. Most of them weren’t good shots. We need to bear down on that part.

On the lack of PP success
Especially there, in overtime, we have a great chance and the game in our hands and we just don’t put the puck in. That’s what we have to do.

On the fight of teams outside the playoff picture
I wouldn’t say surprised. Every team in this league is very good. They love to play hockey and so do we. Doesn’t matter if they’re out of it or not. We have to put up a better fight than we did tonight.

On the Vancouver Canucks
The Canucks are also a great team, and we know how the last game turned out. We’re sure they want to come out and win, so it’s going to be a tough game. We need to look forward to that now.

Stephane Robidas
On the team’s defense

We know exactly what they’re all about. Edmonton has a lot of speed and skill and we gave them easy chances and 2-on-1s, and I think that’s what cost us. We need to clean up defensively and not give in.

On how to beat Ben Scrivens
You have to get traffic, put pucks to the front of the net and be hungry. What you can’t see, you can’t stop. That’s how we score our goals – with traffic. I think that’s the key.

On his return from injury
Physically, I feel really good. I know I can play a little better, and I think I’m getting a little better every game. Conditioning and everything is good. It’s just the timing, the little things that are missing a little bit. I need to adjust to the system, since it’s a little different than I played in Dallas.

On working with Hiller
He made some solid plays tonight. We try to keep it simple behind the net and, if we don’t have anything, we need to get it out of our zone quickly. That’s the key.

Head coach Bruce Boudreau
On tonight’s loss

You have a chance to put these teams away and you don’t, and when that happens, you’re not going to get what you want.

On Perreault’s OT penalty
That was a bad call. It was definitely an even-up call. Matty didn’t do anything. I’d have to look at it, but it looked like Matty was looking the other way and the guy tripped over him. He didn’t do anything. Because we have the 4-on-3, they’re going to call that.

On Corey Perry’s scoring troubles
We have to put those in, but there were no chances. There were pucks lying around, hitting posts and crossbars. It just wasn’t Corey’s night, as far as the scoring. No matter how many chances he had, he wasn’t going to put one of those in.

On the tough competition level of non-playoff teams
I would expect nothing less. They’re all professional teams. If they didn’t put up a fight, I would be disappointed in them.
