It was an upbeat practice this afternoon at THE RINKS – Anaheim ICE as the Ducks prepared for tomorrow’s contest against the Nashville Predators. Though they have had to pull off late-game heroics the past two games, the team enters tomorrow’s matchup on a three-game winning streak and winners of five of the past six games.

They’ve reached the 50-win mark for the first time in franchise history, and currently sit three points up on the San Jose Sharks for the Pacific Division lead.

“It means a lot to reach 50,” said Patrick Maroon. “Obviously, it’s a franchise record. We just have to keep building off of that. It’s been a tough season for us. We’ve had some ups and downs, but to accomplish that is pretty cool.”

Not even the 2006-07 Stanley Cup champion squad reached 50 wins, and today, the Ducks sit just two points shy of tying that year’s point total (110) with six games remaining.

“It shows the type of team we have here, and the type of guys that are willing to sacrifice each and every night,” said Corey Perry, a member of that Cup-winning squad. “When you put that all together, you’re going to have a great team. We’ve got to continue that, keep pushing and not look back.”

Perry says reaching the 50-win mark is a special moment for this franchise. “It’s huge. Any time a team can win 50 games in a season, you’re going to remember everybody in this room.”

It’s a special season, indeed, as the division-leading Ducks sit one point away from the Western Conference-leading Blues and just two points away from the NHL-best Bruins. “We don’t plan on stopping,” said Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau. “This team has done pretty well. Our standards are pretty high. Even from the first year I was here after we went 21-3, we expected to win all the time.

“We’ve got six games left. We want to put our best foot forward in those six, and then worry about the playoffs.”

NOTES
- The Ducks sit one victory shy of matching the club record for home wins in a single season (28 wins in 2007-08).

- Anaheim is two points shy of tying the franchise mark for most standings points earned in one campaign (110, 2006-07).

- The Ducks currently lead the NHL in goals-per-game average (3.22) and goals scored (245).

- The team has won three consecutive games (3-0-0), earned points in six straight (5-0-1) and is 7-2-1 in its last 10 contests.

- Against the Pacific Division, the Ducks are 19-3-3 and a league-best 31-10-3 (.739 points%) vs. the Western Conference.

- The Ducks have gone 25-7-4 through 36 games at Honda Center and became the fourth team in 40 NHL seasons (since 1973-74) to record points in each of its first 22-plus home games (20-0-2) from Oct. 13-Jan. 15, joining PHI (19-0-7, 1979-80), NYI (19-0-4, 1978-79) and SJ (20-0-2, 2008-09) in that category.

- The Ducks, who were the last NHL team to suffer a home loss in regulation this season (Jan. 21 vs. WPG), have gone 17-7-3 in their last 27 home games and earlier set a club record with eight straight home wins to open a season.
