Beauchemin Nominated for the 2013-14 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy
The Anaheim chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers\u2019 Association (PHWA) announced today that Francois Beauchemin has been selected as the Ducks\u2019 nominee for the 2013-14 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The Masterton Trophy is presented annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. The winner will be selected at the end of the regular season by the full PHWA\u2019s 30 chapters.
The Anaheim chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association (PHWA) announced today that Francois Beauchemin has been selected as the Ducks’ nominee for the 2013-14 Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The Masterton Trophy is presented annually to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey. The winner will be selected at the end of the regular season by the full PHWA’s 30 chapters.

Beauchemin, 33 (6/4/80), has scored 4-11=15 points with a +22 rating and 37 penalty minutes (PIM) in 68 games with the Ducks this season. Ranked tied for 10th among NHL defensemen in plus/minus and tied for 11th in blocked shots (168), Beauchemin is also second on the Ducks in time-on-ice (23:04 TOI). The 6-1, 207-pound blueliner underwent successful anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructive surgery on his right knee on May 20, 2013 and returned to the ice as a member of the Ducks’ 2013-14 Opening Night lineup on Oct. 2 at Colorado. Beauchemin also missed 10 games earlier this season with an upper-body injury from Nov. 22-Dec. 11.

Acquired from Toronto in exchange for Joffrey Lupul, Jake Gardiner and a conditional fourth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft on Feb. 9, 2011, Beauchemin was selected by Montreal in the third round (75th overall) of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
