California Chrome (wearing Ducks gear) is the first California-bred horse to win the Kentucky Derby since 1962 (May 3) and won the Preakness Stakes on Saturday. He will try to become the first horse since Affirmed in 1978 to win the Triple Crown at the Belmont Stakes on June 6.
The photo was taken May 9 at Churchill Downs, as the horse and trainers Art and Alan Sherman prepared for the Preakness.
The thoroughbred is all California. He was bred in California, born in California, trained in California and until the Kentucky Derby, he had only raced in California.
