Selanne Speaks About His Final Game
Teemu Selanne spoke about his final game Friday night, a disappointing Game 7 loss to the Kings at Honda Center.
"There’s going to be a lot of sadness about this, but overall, there is going to be a lot of happiness. It’s been an unbelievable journey."
A disappointing Game 7 to the loss also marked the final game in the incredible career of Ducks legend Teemu Selanne.

The NHL's oldest active player and oldest to ever compete in a Ducks uniform at 43 years and 92 days at the start of the season, Selanne ranks 11th among all-time leaders in goals, tied for 37th in all-time assists, 15th in all-time scoring, third in all-time power-play goals, tied for fourth with Brett Hull in all-time game-winning goals (110) and 22nd in all-time games.

Selanne honored on Twitter

Selanne is the Ducks' all-time leader in scoring (988), goals (457), assists (531), games (964), plus/minus (+119), PPG (182), PPP (410), GWG (77), shots (2,961) and OT goals (6).

In the Ducks locker room Friday night, Selanne spoke about his final game:

On the closing moments of the game
It was very disappointing. I knew it was either going to be an unbelievable party or disappointment. This time it wasn’t the party. It’s very disappointing. It’s a funny game. We had our chances. We just couldn’t take advantage of them. That’s the way it goes.

On the way the Ducks played Game 7

Very disappointing right now, especially losing Game 7 the way we did. That’s what hurts most, you know? We had no business there. The numbers … everything. That’s the saddest part.

On if this was his last game
It’s a tough feeling. You want to go further. We all felt we had a chance to go to the next round, and maybe all the way. It’s going to be tough waking up tomorrow morning and realizing it’s all over. But I want to look at the big picture and enjoy this game, my teammates, the fans and the organization. Not even in my wildest dreams did I expect to have a career like this. I’m very thankful.

On remaining on the ice after the game
I was pretty confused. It was hard to realize that it was all over. I didn't know how to ... it was something new. I didn't know what to do out there. Tomorrow morning is going to be a weird feeling. It's a big hole to fill.

On his career in Anaheim
When I came here during the 1995-96 season, I didn’t really know what to expect. It turned out to be my home and a happy place for me and my family. The community and the people, the fans and the organization have really made us feel at home. There’s no better place. I’m very thankful I’ve been able to play for so many years, especially here. This has been very special for me and my family. Everything great has to end. There’s going to be a lot of sadness about this, but overall, there is going to be a lot of happiness. It’s been an unbelievable journey. I’ve really been enjoying every day. Every morning I drive here with a smile on my face, win or lose. That’s why this is so important for me. Everybody in this organization has been so important to me. I feel very special.
