Andersen, Lindholm Named to 2013-14 NHL All-Rookie Team
The National Hockey League (NHL) announced today that Anaheim Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen and defenseman Hampus Lindholm have been named to the 2013-14 NHL All-Rookie Team.
The National Hockey League (NHL) announced today that Anaheim Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen and defenseman Hampus Lindholm have been named to the 2013-14 NHL All-Rookie Team. Andersen and Lindholm are the third and fourth Anaheim players to be named to an All-Rookie Team, joining Bobby Ryan (2008-09) and Paul Kariya (1994-95).

Andersen, 24 (10/2/89), posted a 20-5-0 record with a 2.29 goals-against average (GAA) and .923 save percentage (SV%) in 28 games with the Ducks last season. Andersen ranked tied for 10th among NHL goaltenders in GAA and tied for eighth in SV%, while leading rookie netminders in wins, GAA and SV%. He posted the best SV% and GAA for a rookie goalie since 2010-11 (Cory Schneider: 2.23 GAA, .929 SV%) and his 20 wins were the most by a rookie since 2011-12. Andersen became the third goaltender in NHL history to earn nine-or-more wins in his first 10 games (9-1-0), joining Boston’s Frank Brimsek (9-1-0, Nov. 3-Dec. 20, 1938) and Philadelphia’s Bob Froese (9-0-1, Jan. 8-Feb. 2, 1983).

Selected by Anaheim in the third round (87th overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Andersen stopped all 24 shots faced as the first Denmark-born-and-trained goaltender to appear in a game in NHL history on Oct. 20, 2013 vs. Dallas. The 6-4, 230-pound goaltender also made his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut in 2014, going 3-2 with a 3.10 GAA and .899 SV%. Andersen became the youngest goaltender in Ducks history to appear in a postseason game at 24 years and 196 days, third rookie goaltender in club history to play in a playoff game (Tom Askey, 1999; Ilya Bryzgalov, 2006) and the first rookie goaltender to win his playoff debut in Game 1 of the First Round, Apr. 16 vs. Dallas.

Lindholm, 20 (1/20/94), scored 6-24=30 points with a +29 rating and 36 PIM in 78 games with Anaheim last season. Lindholm set a club record for the best plus/minus rating of any rookie defenseman, while his +29 was the fifth-highest plus/minus rating among rookie blueliners since 1989-90 and the highest of any such player in the Western Conference since 1991-92. Lindholm ranked fourth among all NHL defensemen in plus/minus and among rookie blueliners ranked second in scoring, third in assists and tied for fifth in goals.

Selected by Anaheim in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Lindholm played the most games by a Ducks rookie defenseman since Kurt Sauer played 80 in 2002-03. He also became the second-youngest player in club history (19 yrs., 356 days) to score two goals in a game on Jan. 11 at Phoenix behind only Cam Fowler (19 yrs., 343 days, Nov. 13, 2011 vs. Minnesota). The 6-3, 197-pound blueliner made his postseason debut this spring, collecting 0-2=2 points in 11 contests.
