Perry, Getzlaf Named to 2013-14 NHL All-Star Teams
The National Hockey League (NHL) announced today that Anaheim Ducks right wing Corey Perry and center Ryan Getzlaf have been named to the 2013-14 NHL postseason All-Star Teams.
The National Hockey League (NHL) announced today that Anaheim Ducks right wing Corey Perry and center Ryan Getzlaf have been named to the 2013-14 NHL postseason All-Star Teams. Perry was voted as a First Team NHL All-Star for the second time (2011) and the eighth time for an Anaheim Ducks player, while Getzlaf was named to the Second Team, his first such honor and the eighth overall by an Anaheim player. Voting for the All-Star Teams is conducted among representatives of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association (PHWA) at the end of the regular season.

Perry, 29 (5/16/85), collected 43-39=82 points with a +32 rating and 65 penalty minutes (PIM) in 81 games last season with Anaheim. Perry led the NHL in even-strength goals (35), finished second in goals overall, tied for third in game-winning goals (9), fifth in points and tied for seventh in plus/minus. He became the first player to score 40-plus goals with a plus/minus rating of +30 or higher since 2009-10 (Alex Ovechkin, Alexander Semin). His 43 goals were the second-most in his career, trailing only his career-best 50 in 2010-11.

Selected in the first round (28th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Perry scored his 40th and 41st goals on Apr. 2 vs. Edmonton to reach the 40-goal milestone for the second time in his career and the 10th time in team history (also Teemu Selanne, five times; Paul Kariya, three times). He was the second player to reach 40 goals in 2013-14, trailing only Ovechkin. Perry also had a career-best seven-game goal streak (8-2=10) from Nov. 29-Dec. 11, the longest streak in the NHL since Calgary’s Curtis Glencross scored in seven straight from Feb. 27-Mar. 11, 2012.

Getzlaf, 29 (5/10/85), scored 31-56=87 points with a +28 rating in 77 games last season. He led the Ducks in scoring, assists and power-play points (23), and ranked third in plus/minus. Getzlaf set career highs in goals and game-winning goals (7), while finishing second in the NHL in scoring, fifth in assists, tied for sixth in even-strength goals (26), and tied for second among forwards in blocked shots (87). He also recorded a 14-game point streak (6-11=17) from Nov. 15-Dec. 15, tied for the NHL’s best in 2013-14, while his 31 penalty minutes (PIM) marked his lowest total since his rookie season in 2005-06 (22). Getzlaf missed only four games due to injury during the regular season, including three to an upper-body injury from Nov. 10-14 and one to a lower-body injury on Jan. 11.

Selected by Anaheim in the first round (19th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Getzlaf helped the Ducks finish with the top record in the Western Conference for the first time in franchise history and set season records for standings points (116), wins (54) and win (points) percentage (.707) in 2013-14. Anaheim led the NHL in goals (263) for the first time in club history and also established season bests for goals, wins, home wins (29), road wins (25), home points (62) and road points (54).
