The Anaheim Ducks Learn to Play Program powered by Ryan Getzlaf & Corey Perry had 135 kids experience the sport of hockey for the first time last week at four Rinks locations. The program, funded by the Anaheim Ducks Foundation, offers first-time hockey players between the ages of four and twelve the chance to learn to play for free.

Sessions kicked off July 14-19 at The Rinks – Huntington Beach Inline, Corona Inline, Lakewood ICE and Yorba Linda ICE. The children were provided with an equipment bag, helmet, shin guards, hockey pants, elbow pads, shoulder pads, gloves and a jersey to use – all at no cost.

Participants who complete the Learn to Play program and continue on into a paid hockey program within The Rinks will receive a FREE, complete set of Mission/Bauer equipment courtesy of Getzlaf and Perry.

About The Rinks Learn to Play Program powered by Ryan Getzlaf & Corey Perry
Now in its fourth year of existence, the program assumed its current name in September 2013 after the Ducks stars committed to join instructional sessions and purchase Bauer equipment for skaters (for keep) who sign up for a hockey program within The Rinks Development Program. Participants receive instruction on the basics of hockey as well as learn how to skate properly during the four-week session run by The Rinks Development Program. Getzlaf and Perry will also make special appearances at Learn to Play events each year. The program is currently available at six Rinks locations (ice and inline). Participants are provided with skates, shoulder and elbow pads, shin guards, a helmet, hockey pants, gloves and a jersey.
