Mighty Ducks-Avalanche Preview

GAME: Anaheim Mighty Ducks (13-18-7-5) at Colorado Avalanche (23-10-7-2).

TIME: Tuesday, 9 p.m. EST.

The surging Colorado Avalanche look to move into a tie for first place in the Northwest Division as they try to keep the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on their longest winless streak in more than a year.

The Avalanche are unbeaten in regulation in their last seven contests (6-0-0-1), moving within two points of the first-place Vancouver Canucks in the Northwest. Vancouver visits Phoenix on Tuesday.

Colorado concluded a three-game road trip on Sunday with a 5-4 overtime win over the Chicago Blackhawks.

Chicago took a 3-0 lead into the second period and a 4-2 advantage into the third, but John-Michael Liles and Karlis Skrastins drew the Avs even with goals in the final period before Alex Tanguay scored 3:42 into overtime.

Tanguay has three goals and an assist in his last two games, giving him nine points in six contests this month.

"He's a great goal scorer," Colorado coach Tony Granato said. "He can pick a corner and he's got great hands around the net. A lot of times he'll look for an extra pass, but fortunately I think he's feeling pretty good about his shot right now."

Anaheim's struggles continued Sunday when it blew a one-goal lead with 5:23 left in the third period in settling for a 2-2 tie at home with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The Ducks fell to 0-3-3 in their last six games for their longest winless streak since an 0-6-1 skid from Dec. 26-Jan. 8 of last season.

"We have to look like a more desperate team every night," Anaheim coach Mike Babcock said.
