Mighty Ducks-Kings Preview

GAME: Anaheim Mighty Ducks (15-21-8-5) at Los Angeles Kings (18-15-10-5).

TIME: Saturday, 10:30 p.m. EST.

After learning they'll be without forward Martin Straka indefinitely, the Los Angeles Kings will try to bounce back from their first regulation loss in seven games as they host the struggling Anaheim Mighty Ducks at Staples Center.

Straka, who has 10 goals and 13 assists in 40 games this season, underwent arthroscopic surgery Friday for damaged cartilage in both knees. Though the Kings aren't sure exactly when he'll return, they do expect Straka to play again this season.

The 31-year-old left wing injured his left knee Jan. 10 during the Kings' 2-2 tie against Columbus. He injured his right knee a week earlier during a 2-2 tie with Dallas, but didn't miss any games due to that injury.

The Kings were 2-0-3-1 in their previous six games before Thursday's 5-4 loss to Detroit. Alexander Frolov scored twice for the Kings, who also got power-play goals from Trent Klatt and Luc Robitaille.

"We beat ourselves," Robitaille said. "We made a couple of mistakes, and we just can't afford to do that against a team like that. They're a great team and they made us pay for our mistakes."

The Ducks put a stop to their seven-game home winless streak Friday, cruising past Minnesota 6-2. Vinny Prospal had three goals and an assist for Anaheim, which yielded a franchise record-low 11 shots. Prospal has five goals in his last four games.

The Ducks also ended an 0-for-27 stretch on the power play when Petr Sykora scored on a 50-foot slap shot in the second period.
