Coyotes-Mighty Ducks Preview

GAME: Phoenix Coyotes (5-7-1) at Anaheim Mighty Ducks (5-5-1).

TIME: Sunday, 8 p.m. EST.

Teemu Selanne was one of the league's best goal scorers in his first stint with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. His second run with the team hasn't started too badly either.

Selanne looks to continue his strong play and help the injury-riddled Ducks win their third straight game when they host the Phoenix Coyotes.

Selanne scored a pair of goals in Anaheim's 6-4 victory over St. Louis on Friday, helping the Ducks win consecutive games for the first time this season.

His return to Anaheim after stints at San Jose and Colorado has the 35-year-old right wing skating and scoring in much the same fashion he did earlier in his career.

Selanne, a nine-time All-Star, has a team-high eight goals in his first 11 games back in Anaheim, where he scored 225 before being traded in 2001.

"I've been feeling good pretty much all year. It's fun to play again when you're healthy and every stride feels good," Selanne said. "It's a pretty good roll we have here right now."

The Ducks, who have won three of their last four, trailed 2-0 early against St. Louis but scored the final three goals of the first period. They finished with 23 shots in the period, their most ever in the first 20 minutes and second only to the 26 they recorded in a different stanza against Florida in 1994.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 24 saves to win his second consecutive game after he missed three with a sore groin. Although Giguere appears healthy, injuries remain a problem for the Ducks.

Anaheim placed center Sergei Fedorov, defenseman Sandis Ozolinsh and right wing Corey Perry on the injured list Saturday.

Fedorov has missed eight consecutive games with a left groin strain, Ozolinsh (fractured rib) was hurt last Monday and has missed the last two. Perry is out with a concussion after an illegal check by St. Louis' Dallas Drake on Friday.

Phoenix had a two-game winning streak snapped with a 5-3 loss to visiting Dallas on Saturday.

Shane Doan and Mike Ricci each had a goal and an assist for the Coyotes, who failed to protect a 3-1 lead.

Curtis Joseph gave up a season-high four goals, one game after becoming the ninth goalie in NHL history to reach 400 career wins.

Coyotes center Petr Nedved, playing in his 899th NHL game, injured an elbow in the first period and didn't return.
