Stars-Mighty Ducks Preview

GAME: Dallas Stars (10-6-1) at Anaheim Mighty Ducks (7-6-4).

TIME: Sunday, 8 p.m. EST.

The Anaheim Mighty Ducks will try to snap a four-game losing streak when they open a four-game homestand against the Dallas Stars in the first of consecutive meetings between the Pacific Division rivals.

Anaheim will try to turn things around at Arrowhead Pond, where it has earned at least a point in eight of nine games this season (6-1-2). However, the Ducks have lost their last two home games, 1-0 in overtime to San Jose on Nov. 4, and 4-3 in a shootout to Minnesota on Nov. 6.

Anaheim, which had won five in a row at the Pond, has outscored opponents 31-22 at home this season.

In contrast, the Ducks have struggled on the road, posting just one win in eight games (1-5-2). They did manage to come away with a point in a 2-1 overtime defeat at Phoenix on Saturday.

"We worked hard," Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle said. "We had lots of positives. We just didn't finish. I like the work ethic and commitment that we made, but obviously we didn't score enough goals."

Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 28 saves, but couldn't keep the Ducks from falling to 0-1-3 since a season-high four-game winning streak. After a 2-2-1 start, Giguere is unbeaten in regulation in seven games (4-0-3). He is 5-1-0 in eight home games with a 2.24 goals-against average.

Rookie Ryan Getzlaf scored his third goal in two games Saturday for Anaheim, which had a season-high 44 shots in its first game in six days.

Sergei Fedorov played 14 minutes in his first game since Oct. 10. Fedorov, who was out a with strained groin, has been stellar during his career against Dallas, amassing 71 points in 68 games.

Dallas has won four of its last five, including a 3-2 shootout victory at San Jose on Saturday.

Sergei Zubov and Jussi Jokinen scored in the shootout as Dallas improved to 5-2-0 on the road. Marty Turco made 28 saves for his fourth win in five starts for the Stars, who continue a four-game trip.

Phillipe Boucher scored with the man advantage to extend the Stars' power-play goal streak to eight games.

Center Mike Modano and Turco look to continue their success against Anaheim. Modano, who has points in 14 of 17 games this season, has 65 career points (21 goals, 44 assists) against the Ducks. Turco is 6-2-3 with a 1.53 GAA and two shutouts in 12 career games against Anaheim.

Anaheim, which also hosts Dallas on Wednesday, is 3-2-3 in the last 10 home meetings in the series.
