DUCKS (10-12-4) at STARS (12-8-7)

Last 10 -- Anaheim 4-4-2; Dallas 5-4-1.

Season series -- This is the second of six meetings between the Pacific Division rivals this season. Steve Ott had a goal and an assist for the Stars in their 4-2 win against the Ducks on Oct. 21 at Honda Center.

Big story -- Given their run to a seventh game in the Western Conference Semifinals last season, it's hard to believe the Ducks find themselves in last place in the Pacific Division and in 14th place in the conference standings. Anaheim has also allowed 84 goals in its first 26 games.

Team Scope:

Ducks -- Anaheim has dropped back-to-back games since earning an impressive 3-0 win against the Chicago Blackhawks on Nov. 27. Most recently, the Ducks came away with zero points when Brad Richardson redirected Jack Johnson's shot past Jonas Hiller with just 2:20 left in regulation in a 4-3 loss on home ice to the Los Angeles Kings.

"It was hard because we pulled even," said Ducks captain Scott Niedermayer. "But if you look at the game as a whole, we gave them a start there and had to battle back. You can’t count on coming back and winning the game in a shootout or overtime. We were there and had that opportunity, but it didn't go our way. We have to get back to playing the way we were prior to these last couple of games."

Stars -- Dallas is coming off a 4-1 loss at Detroit on Monday, but it does have somewhat of an excuse as it was the Stars' eighth game in a 13-day span. Despite that tough stretch, Marc Crawford's club was able to finish with a record of 4-3-1. Marty Turco allowed four goals on 32 shots in the loss to the Red Wings.

"Marty has been around long enough that he knows he didn't have his best stuff," Crawford said. "I feel confident he will respond to that."

Who's hot -- Nobody is enjoying a better stretch right now than Anaheim forward Corey Perry, who is in the midst of a franchise-record 19-game scoring streak. It is the longest run in the NHL since Pittsburgh captain Sidney Crosby had a 19-game streak from Oct. 6 to Nov. 17, 2007. … Stars left wing Brenden Morrow scored his fourth goal in as many games Monday, which pulled him even with James Neal for the tea, lead with 11 tallies.

Injury report -- Ducks forward Kyle Calder is expected to miss another 1-2 weeks after being struck in the face by a puck during practice on Nov. 28. Joffrey Lupul (back spasms) is out indefinitely, and Ryan Carter (broken foot) is expected back later this month.

Stat pack -- Ducks center Ryan Getzlaf has two assists on Monday to give him 300 career points, including 93 goals. He has 27 points (5 goals, 22 assists) in the last 19 games.

Puck drop -- Considering how tough the Western Conference is, the Ducks need to start stringing some wins together. Thursday marks the beginning of back-to-back games on the road, as they'll visit Minnesota on Friday. A three-point trip or better would certainly give the team some confidence moving forward.
