COYOTES (12-7-6) at DUCKS (13-12-3)

TV: Fox Sports-Arizona, Fox Sports-West.

Last 10: Phoenix 7-2-1; Anaheim 3-5-2.

Season Series: This is the third of six meetings between the Pacific Division rivals. The Ducks earned a 3-2 victory against the Coyotes on Oct. 17 at the Honda Center before a 6-4 victory in Phoenix on Nov. 27.

Big Story: They came up just short on Saturday night, but the Coyotes still managed to pick up a point in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers at Jobing.com Arena. Despite three losses in four games, Dave Tippett's club is 7-2-1 in its last 10 games and is within three points of first place in the Pacific.

"Obviously, we would like to get that extra point," Coyotes defenseman Ed Jovanovski said. "We had our opportunities, so did they, and their goaltender played great -- so did ours."

Team Scope:

Coyotes: Special teams played a huge role in overtime Saturday night for the Coyotes, who were forced to kill two penalties during the extra session. Martin Hanzal scored the lone goal for Phoenix, which peppered Scott Clemmensen with 41 shots.

"There were some good things, but at the end of the day we needed those points and let one get away," Tippett said.

Ducks: Anaheim's troubles against the Detroit Red Wings continued on Friday night as it suffered a 4-0 loss at the Honda Center. It marked the third straight time the Ducks have lost to the Red Wings, who are steamrolling their way through the Western Conference.

"It is frustrating," forward Corey Perry said. "We battled hard tonight, but we just couldn't find a way to get the puck past Howard. It was just one of those nights where things just didn't go our way."

Who's Hot: Coyotes goalie Ilya Bryzgalov made 36 saves on Saturday night. … Perry leads Anaheim with 28 points (12 goals, 16 assists).

Injury Report: Phoenix is boasting a healthy lineup. … Ducks forwards Teemu Selanne (groin) and Joffrey Lupul (blood infection) are day-to-day.

Stat Pack: Phoenix has allowed 13 goals in the first period, tied for fewest in the NHL. … Ducks defenseman Toni Lydman, who entered Friday's game tied for second in the NHL with a plus-16 mark, finished minus-2. It marked the first time in 24 games this season that Lydman has not been either even or plus.

Puck Drop: "If we play as hard as we did (Friday) in every game this year and be as effective on our forecheck for stretches of the game, we'll be alright." -- Ducks coach Randy Carlyle
