Ducks look for a little payback against Wild
NHL.com
WILD (13-11-4) at DUCKS (15-13-4)

TV: Fox Sports-North, Fox Sports-West.

Last 10: Minnesota 3-5-2; Anaheim 5-4-1.

Season Series: This is the second of four meetings between the teams. Minnesota earned a 2-1 overtime victory against Anaheim on Nov. 17 at Xcel Energy Center. Antti Miettinen had the game-winner for the Wild.

Big Story: The Ducks are looking for a second straight home win to end the weekend, before heading out on a seven-game road trip that will take them until close to the end of the month. Sunday marks the end of a four-game road trip for the Wild, who hopped on the freeway after Saturday's night dramatic 3-2 overtime win at Los Angeles. Brent Burns scored with 2:10 remaining in the extra session to give Minnesota a much-needed second point in the standings. The Wild are four points out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Team Scope:

Wild: It's been a highly impressive road trip for Minnesota thus far, as Saturday's victory improved its record to 2-0-1 in the first three games. After suffering a 4-3 overtime loss at Dallas last Saturday, the Wild earned back-to-back, 3-2 victories at Phoenix and L.A., respectively.

Minnesota has won consecutive games for the first time since Nov. 19 after a five-game skid.

"It was a gutsy performance by the guys," Wild coach Todd Richards said. "We took too many penalties, made it difficult on ourselves. The penalties were the stick infractions -- those are the ones that drive you crazy. Theo (Jose Theodore) made some big saves at some very key times and obviously we benefitted from some obvious miscues from their goaltender."

Ducks: Anaheim enters Sunday's action in search of its second straight win following Friday's 3-2 shootout victory against the Calgary Flames at the Honda Center. After surrendering a two-goal lead in the third period for a third straight game, the Ducks were bailed out when Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry scored in the shootout against Henrik Karlsson.

"The good part is we won tonight. The bad part is we had a two-goal lead and we gave it up again," goalie Jonas Hiller said. "It shouldn't have happened. In the end, we'll be happy with the two points."

Who's Hot: Wild forward Mikko Koivu has points in each of his last three games. He scored shorthanded on Saturday night. … Perry leads the Ducks with 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists).

Injury Report: Wild forward Matt Cullen (groin) is day-to-day. Guillaume Latendresse (groin), Josh Harding (ACL/MCL) and James Sheppard (knee) are out. John Madden did not play Saturday night due to an upper-body injury. … Ducks forward Teemu Selanne is day-to-day with a groin injury. Aaron Voros was placed on injured reserve because of a fractured orbital bone.

Stat Pack: With Burns' power-play goal in overtime on Saturday night, the Wild have now score three times via the man advantage in 37 chances over 12 games. … After going to a shootout only once in their first 29 games and not at all in the previous 24, the Ducks have played three consecutive shootouts.

Puck Drop: "At times we looked like we were dog tired. We didn't have very much jump. They did a good job early in the game of retrieving pucks and we didn't get much of a forecheck game going. We had pucks put in their zone, but we didn't really get a lot of puck recoveries and a lot of offensive zone time." -- Ducks coach Randy Carlyle after Friday's shootout win against Calgary
