Last 10 --
Anaheim 5-4-1; Boston 5-3-2

Season series -- This is the only game between Anaheim and Boston this season. The Ducks swept the two-game series in 2009-10 with a combined score of 10-4.

Big Story -- The Bruins continue their three-game homestand, while the Ducks make their fourth stop on a season-high seven-game road trip. Boston got off on the right foot with a 3-2 win over the reeling Capitals on Saturday, but Anaheim has dropped its last two as it tries to improve upon a 6-9-3 road record.

Team Scope:

Ducks -- Captain Ryan Getzlaf tallied two more goals on Saturday, but it wasn't enough as his team fell 4-2 at Carolina. Anaheim threw everything it could at Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward during the final three minutes of the game, as three Carolina penalties combined with the pulling of Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller gave Anaheim a 6-on-3 advantage. But Ward stood strong as he sent the Ducks back to their plane without any points.

"The opportunities were definitely there, and Cam played the way he can," Getzlaf said following the game.

Bruins -- Lately, the Washington Capitals have been responsible for sparking a number of teams' turnarounds. The B's benefitted from playing the struggling Caps on Saturday as 39 saves from goalie Tim Thomas and Andrew Ference's first goal in 100 games gave Boston the 3-2 home win and handed Washington its eighth straight loss. The win also marked Boston's first Saturday night victory at home this season.

Thomas was the brightest star of the game once again as he came through in the clutch with 25 saves in the third period.

"It certainly saved us. There's no doubt about that," coach Claude Julien said about his goalie's third-period performance.

Who's Hot -- Getzlaf has 5 goals and 3 assists in his last six games for the Ducks. … For Boston, Thomas is the hottest goalie in the NHL right now as he leads the League in save percentage (.951), goals-against average (1.65), and shutouts (5). He is second in the Eastern Conference with 15 wins.

Injury Report -- Teemu Selanne returned for the Ducks on Saturday after missing nine of the last 13 games with a groin injury. Forward Aaron Voros is out 3-4 weeks for Anaheim with a fractured orbital bone. … For the Bruins, defenseman Mark Stuart is out with a broken finger. Also, center Brad Marchand left the game in the second period Saturday and did not return. There was no further information about his injury.
