Two huge points up for grabs for Flames, Ducks

FLAMES (37-27-9) at DUCKS (39-27-5)

TV: SNET-W, Fox Sports-Prime Ticket.

Last 10: Calgary 6-4-0; Anaheim 7-2-1.

Season Series: This is the third of four meetings between the teams. Anaheim is seeking its third straight win against the Flames after a shootout victory on Dec. 10 and a 5-4 overtime win on Feb. 11.

Big Story: The Western Conference just seem to be getting tighter and tighter.

With Anaheim earning a hard-fought victory at Los Angeles on Saturday night, a grand total of six points separate fourth place from 10th place. Of those seven teams, only Calgary hasn't earned points in at least eight of its last 10 games.

Team Scope:

Flames: Calgary put an end to a three-game skid on Thursday night with a 5-2 win against the Colorado Avalanche at Scotiabank Saddledome. Jarome Iginla scored a pair of goals for the Flames, who were coming off a pair of one-goal losses against Vancouver and Phoenix, respectively.

"I thought right from the start we had our tempo up and we were able to draw the penalties," Iginla said.

Ducks: Anaheim inched closer to a playoff spot Saturday night when Corey Perry beat Jonathan Quick at 1:32 of overtime in a 2-1 win at Los Angeles. The victory allowed the Ducks -- who have now won seven of nine -- to pull even with Calgary at 83 points apiece, just one behind Chicago and Nashville in the Western Conference.

"It's tough to give up a point (to the Kings), but we found a way to come back and get the two points," Perry said after scoring his 37th goal of the season. "That's all we're looking for."

Who's Hot: Iginla has a three-game point streak for the Flames. He has 2 goals and 2 assists during that span. … Perry has 6 goals in his last 5 games.

Injury Report: For the Flames, forward David Moss (ankle) and defenseman Adam Pardy (shoulder) are out indefinitely. Fredrik Modin is day-to-day with a back injury, while Brendan Morrison (knee) and Raitis Ivanans (head) are also out. … Ducks goalie Jonas Hiller is out due to dizziness.

Stat Pack: Calgary hasn't won at Anaheim in the regular season since Jan. 19, 2004. The Flames are 0-9-3 since. … Saturday's meeting was the 100th all-time between the Ducks and Kings.

Puck Drop: "To be honest, I didn't know that. My second year I went through some tough scoring times and I wondered if maybe I wasn't going to be a scorer in the NHL. I've definitely been extremely blessed. Back then I never would have thought that. I hope to score a lot more, but that's pretty neat and I'm definitely thankful." -- Flames captain Jarome Iginla on tying Alexander Mogilny and Denis Savard with 473 career goals
