Ducks at Sharks (Preseason)
Playing for the first time on the road this preseason, the Ducks will be in search of their first exhibition victory tonight when they battle the Sharks at HP Pavilion.
These same two teams met in Anaheim on Wednesday and it was the Sharks who walked away with a 6-1 win. Despite not registering a shot on goal through 16:50 of the first period in that one, the Ducks struck first on the scoreboard with a goal from
Andrew Gordon. It was all San Jose from that point though, as the reigning Pacific Division champions lit lhe lamp six answered times before the final horn sounded at Honda Center.
Tonight's game will be the first of three road contests in three straight nights. The team will head to Vancouver on Saturday, followed by a date with the Kings in Los Angeles on Sunday.
"When you play three in three nights and then there are only two exhibition games after this weekend, the time is now," Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle said. "There are some people who have separated themselves in the two games and there are some people who have fallen back. We’re going forward with the people who have earned it."
The Ducks opened their preseason schedule on Tuesday, also at home, with a 7-4 defeat to Pacific Division foe Phoenix. Andrew Cogliano and Kyle Palmieri each led the club with a goal and an assist in that one. Defensemen Sean Zimmerman and Nate Guenin also scored.
