Ducks Look to Continue Home Dominance Against the Flames

FLAMES (9-8-4) at DUCKS (16-3-3)

TV: NHLN-CA, SNET-W, PRIME

Last 10: Calgary 5-4-1; Anaheim 7-1-2

Season series: This is the second of three meetings. On Jan. 21, the Ducks emerged with a 5-4 victory behind two goals from Daniel Winnik.

Big story: While the Blackhawks are unbeatable in regulation, the Ducks aren't far behind. They are 10 points back, but have two games in hand and have won nine straight at Honda Center. The Ducks have won 15 straight regular season games against the Flames at Honda Center, dating all the way back to January 19, 2004.

Team Scope:

Ducks: The Ducks wrapped a rare three-game set with the Phoenix Coyotes, dropping a pair of 5-4 shootout decisions in Phoenix before picking up a 2-0 win at home Wednesday. The Ducks are 10-1-2 in their last 13 games.

"They were good, hard-fought games all three nights," said Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf, whose empty-net goal sealed the win with 21 seconds to play. "At the start, you never know and things could get out of hand. It's a different experience, that's for sure, but tonight we came out and played the game we wanted to. It was a lot better defensive effort in shutting them down. Our goaltender (Jonas Hiller, 18 saves) played great and there weren't any second chances."

Flames: After picking up five wins in their first 15 games, the Flames have made a push into playoff contention with their recent 4-1-1 run. They've won two straight against teams in playoff position right now, the Sharks and Canucks, and goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff is healthy and back in the net after missing a month with a sprained knee.

Kiprusoff made 32 saves against the Sharks on Wednesday in his first game back, a 4-1 Flames win.

"I felt that he was solid right from the get-go," coach Bob Hartley said. "He was seeing all the pucks and that's such a good feeling for guys on the bench, for coaches, and probably for fans."

Who's hot: In four March games, Getzlaf has three goals and three assists for the Ducks. ... Flames forward Jiri Hudler hasn't scored a goal in 10 games, but he’s picked up six assists in his past three games.

Injury report: Ducks forward Kyle Palmieri has been out with an upper-body injury he suffered in the first of three consecutive games against the Coyotes, but he skated on his own on Thursday. Defenseman Bryan Allen has missed three games with flu-like symptoms. … The Flames are also without forwards Paul Byron (hand) and Mikael Backlund (knee).
