ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) _ Samuel Pahlsson became the latest Mighty Ducks player to do in the Minnesota Wild.

Pahlsson had the first two-goal game of his career and Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 28 saves to lead the Anaheim Mighty Ducks to a 2-0 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday night.

Despite outshooting the Ducks 23-9 in the first two periods, the Wild continued to be stymied by Giguere. He has allowed just four goals in eight games against Minnesota, including three consecutive shutouts during last year's Western Conference finals.

Giguere allowed only one goal in Anaheim's four-game sweep of the Wild in May and just three in the previous two meetings this season.

``We woke up from a deep sleep to play the third period,'' Anaheim coach Mike Babcock said. ``It's a good thing Jiggy was in net.''

Anaheim has won eight of nine home games and has earned points in 12 consecutive home games (9-0-1-2).

The Ducks are also 6-0-1 in their last seven meetings against Minnesota, including two wins and a tie this season and last year's sweep in the playoffs. Anaheim, the West champion a year ago, is seven points behind the final playoff spot.

``We came out flat and we played flat for two periods,'' Giguere said. ``It's good that we got a win, but we have to play better.''

The Wild are winless in five games (0-4-1). They were also unlucky Wednesday, hitting the post four times.

``We battled hard, but just got three or four crossbars,'' Minnesota forward Sergei Zholtok said. ``It's tough when you don't score goals and you're working hard every shift.''

``I thought we played excellent,'' Minnesota coach Jacques Lemaire said. ``We had the chances, we just couldn't get the goals. I thought the kids played well.''

The Wild were controlling play outshooting Anaheim 17-7 when Pahlsson set up his first goal by creating a turnover near the Minnesota blue line. He quickly moved the puck across the zone to Jason Krog and went to the net. Krog sent back a return pass and Pahlsson shot it past goalie Manny Fernandez at 10:41 of the second.

``It feels great to score goals, everyone loves it,'' said Pahlsson, who entered with only four goals this season. ``We all want to score goals, I just hope I can help the team.''

Pahlsson helped secure the win by sending a wrist shot from the right circle past Fernandez when the goalie lost his stick 10:50 into the third.
