Mighty Ducks 6, Canucks 2

ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - The Anaheim Mighty Ducks are already in postseason form.

Teemu Selanne and Samuel Pahlsson scored two goals apiece, leading Anaheim to a 6-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks, who entered the game just one point behind the Ducks in the Western Conference standings.

Rookies Ryan Getzlaf and Francois Beauchemin each added a goal and an assist for the Ducks, winners of seven straight at home and eight of 10 overall.

With the win Sunday, Anaheim moved three points ahead of Vancouver and just four points behind fourth-place Nashville in the Western Conference.

"I think we have played like a playoff team for some time," said Selanne, who has 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in his last nine games.

"We can still do better," he said. "The key thing right now is to look for forward, not behind you. I'd rather try to catch Nashville and push that forward then worry about the teams behind us right now."

Vancouver remains in seventh place, four points ahead of the Los Angeles Kings and San Jose Sharks who are tied for ninth.

"This team has a bit of a habit of getting comfortable and everyone want to revert to the easy way to play, thats not good enough especially this time of the year against a team like that," Vancouver forward Trevor Linden said.

After spotting the Canucks a 1-0 lead on a power-play goal by Todd Bertuzzi, Anaheim scored twice within a 12-second span of the first period and three times in the first 12 minutes of the second.

Working on a power play after Bertuzzi's goal, Selanne skated from the left corner and swept around Vancouver goalie Alex Auld to tie the game.

Pahlsson then fired in a rebound on the next shift to put Anaheim ahead.

Beauchemin sent a 45-foot slap shot past Auld 3 minutes into the second period to increase the Ducks' lead. Getzlaf's shot from the point during a power play defected off Vancouver defenseman Eric Weinrich to make it 4-1.

"They had all four lines rolling and they're obviously playing with lots of confidence right now," Canucks center Markus Naslund said. "They were the faster team tonight, there's no doubt about it."

Auld was then replaced by Mika Noronen, who let in the first shot he faced, a one-timer by Pahlsson off a pass from Jonathan Hedstrom, 12 minutes into the second.

The two-goal effort was the second of Pahlsson's career - he had two against Minnesota on March, 3, 2004. Generally relied on to serve as Anaheim's checking center, Pahlsson has six goals in 17 games since wining a gold medal for Sweden at the Turin Olympics.

"It's nice to score and help the team win, you can't always rely on the top guys to score and win the game for us every night," Pahlssson said. "We're playing good against the teams we have to play good against."

Defenseman Mattias Ohlund scored for Vancouver in the third. It was the 65th goal of his career with the Canucks, moving him into a tie with Doug Lidster for second place on the franchise list for goals by a defenseman. Jyrki Lumme is the franchise leader with 83.

Selanne scored his second of the game with 4:26 to play.

Anaheim goalie Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 27 saves to improve his record to 26-12-11.

Notes: The Ducks presented a short message on the center ice video board thanking Vancouver defenseman Keith Carney for his play in Anaheim. Carney was traded to the Canucks on March 9, after four seasons with the Ducks. ... Vancouver forward Jarkko Tutuu was assessed a rare triple minor penalty in the first period, 2 minutes each for tripping, elbowing and roughing. ... Anaheim got its franchise-record 24th home win.
