Hampus Lindholm scored the game-winning goal in the third period to lead the Anaheim Ducks over the Colorado Avalanche, 2-1, at Pepsi Center.
Tied at one late in the third period, Avalanche forward Cody McLeod was sent to the box for boarding Ducks defenseman Ben Lovejoy. Lindholm wasted no time on the ensuing power play, snapping a shot past Semyon Varlamov for his second goal of the preseason.
Paul Stastny scored the game's first goal in the opening period, giving Colorado a 1-0 lead. The Avalanche forward tipped a shot from Alex Tanguay that hit Ducks defenseman Mark Fistric. The puck caromed off him and past Frederik Andersen for the goal.
Smith-Pelly tied the game, 1-1, with a second period power-play goal. Fistric set up at the point, firing a slap shot on net. Patrick Maroon had his initial try stopped, and Smith-Pelly sent the rebound over Varlamov for his first goal of the preseason.
The Ducks will have Thursday off before flying to San Jose to face the Sharks Friday.
