Ben Lovejoy scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead the Anaheim Ducks over the San Jose Sharks, 3-2, in tonight's preseason game at SAP Center in San Jose.
Andrew Cogliano set up the final tally, creating a turnover in the offensive zone. He sent the puck to Fowler, who dished it to Lovejoy inside the blueline. His low one-timer hit Sharks goalie Antti Niemi before finding the back of the net.
Corey Perry and Emerson Etem also scored for the Ducks, who came from behind to win their third preseason game. Viktor Fasth played the entire game, stopping 24 shots for his first win of the preseason.
The Ducks twice battled back from one-goal deficits. Down 1-0 in the second period, Etem tied the game at 2:48 of the middle period. The Ducks forward converted a pass from Devante Smith-Pelly for his second goal of the preseason.
San Jose would grab another one-goal lead less than six minutes later on Tyler Kennedy's shorthanded goal.
Corey Perry evened the score at 16:01 of the second period when he corralled a loose puck behind the Sharks net, and skated to the left circle. His shot beat Niemi to the short side for his first goal of the preseason.
The Ducks head home to face the Colorado Avalance Sunday at Honda Center.
Etem left the game in the second period after a collision with Sharks forward Raffi Torres. He briefly returned before heading back to the locker room. No further updates were provided.
