Mighty Ducks-Sharks Preview

GAME: Anaheim Mighty Ducks (10-10-4-5) at San Jose Sharks (9-8-10-2).

TIME: Saturday, 10:30 p.m. EST.

The Anaheim Mighty Ducks look to match their longest winning streak of the season when they face the San Jose Sharks for the second time this week.

Anaheim snapped a four-game winless streak with a 4-0 home win over the Dallas Stars on Sunday, and then beat San Jose 3-2 on Wednesday to win consecutive games for the first time since a season-high three-game winning streak from Nov. 9-16.

The Ducks got off only four shots to the Sharks' 11 in the first period, but outshot them 16-3 in the second and 10-6 in the third to come back from a 2-0 deficit.

Ruslan Salei broke a 2-2 tie with his first goal of the season at 8:09 of the third.

"I just wristed it up, it hit one of their sticks and the goalie was a little out of position. I got lucky. It was about time. We spotted them two goals and came back, and I think we deserved to win because we outworked them in the second and third periods."

San Jose's loss in Anaheim on Wednesday was just its second in its last 11 games. The Sharks then went on to play Edmonton at home one night later, and skated to a 2-2 tie to earn their NHL-leading 10th draw.

Patrick Marleau scored two goals and Evgeni Nabokov stopped 42 shots in his first start in nearly three weeks for the weary Sharks.

"We didn't have very much gas in the tank," Sharks coach Ron Wilson said. "We really dug in, in the third period, to save a point. We have to learn to make smarter decisions when we're tired. So far, I'm not impressed with how we process the game when we're tired."

San Jose matched its longest home unbeaten streak in franchise history by earning a point in its seventh straight game (3-0-4) at the HP Pavilion.

Anaheim has beaten San Jose twice this season to extend its winning streak to five games in the series.
